A federal judge on Wednesday formally dismissed the corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams, granting the controversial request from the Justice Department that generated a public outcry and spurred the largest mass resignation of senior federal prosecutors in decades. The order from U.S. Judge Dale Ho brings an end to the case against Adams, who had pleaded not guilty to conspiracy, bribery, wire fraud and other charges following his indictment last year. Ho said he was dismissing the case with prejudice, meaning the government could not bring the charges again later — contrary to the Justice Department's request to dismiss the case without prejudice. "In light of DOJ's rationales, dismissing the case without prejudice would create the unavoidable perception that the Mayor's freedom depends on his ability to carry out the immigration enforcement priorities of the administration, and that he might be more beholden to the demands of the federal government than to the wishes of his own constituents," Ho wrote. "That appearance is inevitable, and it counsels in favor of dismissal with prejudice." https://www.npr.org/2025/04/02/g-s1-57386/judge-new-york-eric-adams

@Steve-Miller Sounds like fun! Your post title made me go searching for performances by my favorite pairs couple, the Protopopovs. I know, I know, I'm old. The Protopopovs dominated pairs skating in the 1960s. I found this video of them performing in 2013. Oleg was 81 at the time and Lyudmila was 78. Link to video

I would make it at home, but our Costco carries a local restaurant's version that is excellent. https://pitainn.com/products/ Bonus points, too. If you buy a container of the hummus at Costco and bring your Costco receipt into one of their restaurants, you get six of their fabulous falafel at no charge. Pita Inn's hot sauce is delicious, too.

@dolmansaxlil I saw tons of stuff that looked fabulous on the site. I’m still skipping spicy foods for now, but I was sorely tempted to order something! Let us know what you think of their stuff, if you end up ordering something.

Then there's this story of a journalist, US citizen, and his border crossing experience. Scary as hell. https://archive.is/1V8pk

Push will come to shove and we will see if those associates will all take lower-paying positions. Some may, some will not.

@Bernard said in Happy World Piano Day!: But I can manage quite well right now without a cello teacher because I know what has to be done, but the climb is slow and steady. That's great! Also, my main focus is on piano right now. Also great! I heard this piece "Les larmes de Jacqueline" by Offenbach last month and went looking for the music. Just listened, what a gorgeous piece!!! Wow! I can see why you would want to play it! The best I could find was a transcription for harmonica and harp written in G clef, but I downloaded it and am in the process of writing it out in F clef and C clef (where necessary) because that's what I'm most comfortable reading for cello. A good exercise in vibrato. "transcription for harmonica" is not something I expected to exist!

Well, seeing as searching phones is now a thing, maybe it's just safer all the way around to not carry a phone.

Imagine it. 5 year olds in tiny chains scrubbing the floors in the Florida capitol building. The MAGTs rejoiced!
