We could get another inch or two tonight; I'll get out in the morning and shovel again. The blacktop driveway will completely melt and dry if there's a little bit of sun tomorrow. After the snow comes a cold snap. Temps in single digits Monday and Tuesday nights.

This looks like a good possibility. Basically an egg and veggie pie, with the crust being made of grated potatoes. Video won't play here, but you can click on the Link to video. Link to video RECIPE AND INGREDIENTS: Ingredients: Potatoes — 1 kg Butter — 3 tbsp (2 for the dish, 1 melted for brushing) Eggs — 5 (1 white for crust, 4 for filling) Salt — to taste Cream — 300 ml Feta — 100 g Parmesan — 50 g Spinach — 100 g Red bell pepper — 1 Olives — 80 g Flour — 2 tbsp Dried garlic, oregano — to taste Olive oil — for frying Preparation: Grate potatoes, salt, and let sit for 15 minutes. Squeeze out the liquid, spread evenly in a buttered, parchment-lined form. Brush with melted butter and bake for 20 minutes at 200°C. Brush with whipped egg white and bake for 3 more minutes at 180°C. Mix eggs, cream, feta, and parmesan. Sauté spinach, add to the mixture. Fry diced pepper and olives with garlic and oregano, combine with the filling. Add flour, pour into the crust, and bake 25–35 minutes at 180°C. Result: A golden, crispy potato base with creamy, cheesy vegetable filling — comforting, flavorful, and truly homemade.

@Daniel said in Ukraine “peace plan”: I want peace in Ukraine. I don't want Ukraine to be given membership in NATO, either. But that's just me. Ben-Gvir and Smotrich want peace in Gaza too. Everyone wants peace. But under what terms?

I weaned myself off caffeine a dozen years ago after frightening chest pain that I interpreted as a heart attack, but tests proved it was something like GERD. I had been drinking lots of tea daily. Then I went into strictly herbal teas for a long time. I discovered that coffee didn’t cause a bad reaction, so I have one or two cups a day. I seem to be fine.

@Daniel Your story of the trike accident really shook me. It’s a miracle you came through it so well, thanks to your gymnastics training. I should learn how to fall since I’ve had two serious bike accidents — i.e. resulting in broken bones. Anyway, if the chain falls off a front chain wheel — this is assuming the bike has a rear derailleur, but maybe it works on others too — you position your stick-tool above the lower run of the chain and drag it forward and around the chain wheel (counterclockwise). The stick keeps your hand away from the chain wheel teeth that could pinch you. The spring in the derailleur allows slack in the chain that facilitates this maneuver. I’ve often wanted to show this trick to some poor kid whose chain had fallen off and dreaded a long walk home.

@AndyD said in About that White House ballroom and the East Wing: Corporate Trump I'm afraid. His taste appears to be extreme 'new money'. I guess you had to be there but in '80's New York there were a group of new money families who were venerated to the nth degree. Reagan came into office and the country was inundated with the myth of getting what you earned no matter who you were or how you started. And, likewise, being to blame for any lack of opportunity or misfortune you might suffer. None of these families lasted very long as others have in the past. Note Trump's multiple bankruptcies. Of course, Trump got nowhere on his own merits. He grew up in an upper-middle class neighborhood in Queens. You can hear his Queens accent, but any notion of class clearly went over his head.
