Sometime in the next week or three, I plan to stop by a local pharmacy to find out what I may be eligible for.

I have an answer for one. I no longer take mRNA vaccines.

@wtg and @Rontuner hmmm, this make sense. OTOH, since I am surrounded by people due to work, I wonder… I think I need to have a discussion with a provider, but my next visit isn’t until Nov. (not counting my ortho.)

This is why the current situation is so frustrating. I would like to be able to get vaccine advice without politics getting in the way.

I didn’t take one last year because I got Covid again in September so I skipped it when they came out. My intention was to get it a few months later but I forgot. This year I’ll be sure to get one if only as a FU to Kennedy. My immunosupressed status will get me on the list.

Do you have an online connection to your provider? I've found that messaging mine usually gets a pretty quick response (through MyChart)

Unfortunately not right now, because I'm in the process of changing providers... against my will, I should add, my main provider left the practice, and because of the shitty health care system the way their clinic works, I had to "reestablish" care just like any new patient. So my first appointment with the person isn't until Nov. And since I don't have a relationship with a provider there, I can't do that kind of online messaging. I might see if I can make a bridge appointment. I'm currently going to PT and have all these regular visits with an ortho for my foot problems, so I'm kind of not very enthusiastic about making an additional appointment. But it's probably worth it.

I don't know that there's any harm - except the lingering perception among some of the population (without actual evidence) that too many vaccines are somehow problematic.

I believe for the docs, it probably goes something like "if there isn't a clear benefit, why recommend?" There is always risks involved with any medical intervention - pages of fine print confirm that for most drugs we take!

I’m old enough to qualify and I’ll get one. The probability of it being good far outweighs the probability of being bad.

Flu shot too, and any other vax they have available.

To my knowledge, I've never had covid. I've gotten boosters every year since the pandemic. I am planning to get one this fall--I usually wait until November--unless I read or hear something to discourage me.
