You’ve done all the right things as far as vaxxing. Wishing Mr. SK a mild case, and hoping you don’t get it!

You mean, you avoided in-home transmission from your spouse? That’s encouraging!

            Thanks @wtg !

Oh no. I hope Mr. SK gets over it quickly with no long term effects. Hoping you don't get it as well.

It reminds me I need to make an appointment tomorrow for this year's covid vaccine. Got my flu shot last week and felt sluggish for 3 or 4 days afterwards.

              The industrial revolution cheapened everything.

                @Bernard thank you!

Fortunately we both got the flu and Covid vaccines already (in mid-Sept I believe).

I am supposed to go to a conference on Friday, Thursday and Saturday are to be the travel days, my colleague is driving. I’ll contact him today to consult.

As I see it, the options are: 1) don’t go. 2) go and wear a mask in the car. 3) go and we both wear a mask in the car (if I go, this would be my preference). Presuming I don’t get sick of course.

Ugh, what a hassle, this is kind of an important trip. I really do not want to miss it, but I would hate to make him sick, or get sick while there, or have Mr SK get worse while I’m away…

This is why I’ve spent 6 years masking, is to avoid situations like this.

                Phooey.

MrsTuner and I have each had Covid a couple of times without much discomfort. We've never passed it from one to another - and we never masked at home or slept apart from each other. Go figure.

That's good to hear! As I mentioned, this is a first for our household, after all these years!

Wow! Well, I am hoping I don't get it. I sure would like to 1) not get sick, and 2) go to my conference as scheduled!

I got covid last fall, before I’d had a chance to get the vaccine. Fever and felt pretty awful for a few days. Made sure I got both flu and Covid vaccines early this year. This year, the Covid vaccine made my arm really sore for a couple of days, and I barely noticed the flu one. Hope you can keep from catching it!

If he's not feeling terrible now he's not likely to. I've had it four times now, once from a funeral and three times flying, and only spent one day in bed. I believe the vaccines do what they are supposed to.

You say Mr. SK got the vaccine and still got Covid? That’s not how it’s supposed to work.

Actually, that is how it works.

                                  From Mayo Clinic:

Getting a COVID-19 vaccine helps to keep you healthy. The vaccine protects against serious illness, the need for hospital care due to COVID-19 and death from COVID-19.

                                  https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/coronavirus/in-depth/coronavirus-vaccine/art-20484859

It may help some people to not get sick at all, but as importantly, it reduces the severity if you do get it. As @mik said, no worse than a day or two of feeling poorly, rather than getting severely ill and needing to be hospitalized. Especially important as we get older, as our immune systems are not as robust and we can't fight off various bugs as well as we did when we were younger.
