Experimenting with making Hainanese Chicken Rice from a box of seasoning "kit."
Need to supply the raw chicken, the uncooked rice, chicken stock, and some oil; but the seasoning "kit" supposedly has everything else you need to make the chicken and rice into Hainanese Chicken Rice. 🤷

Watching Mary Berry's Cooking Made Simple, full season that just went up on Youtube a few days ago. Nibbling some lovely Stilton and cranberry/cinnamon Chevre with fruit and nut bread while sipping wine. Enjoying the peace of my surroundings.

Wildly boring here. We made pot stickers (from scratch), rice and steamed broccoli. Leftover Christmas chocolates. NA beer. Might open the patio door to look if the neighbors light off fireworks.

It is now 2026 in Rio De Janeiro. Close enough. Good night.

But I did make an absolutely perfect prime rib. Highly recommend.

Not me. Having a single malt at home, Deanston Virgin Oak…inexpensive but surprisingly good. Happy New Year!

I made a skirt steak, which I'll be making payments on into 2027. ($57 for 2.27lbs!! at Stop & Shop, not some gourmet market).

The boy was at his buddy's house until about 1am. Mayla and I went to sleep at 10:30.

                Happy New Year!

My mother came over and Mr SK made toshi-koshi soba (year’s end soba noodles) for dinner. We visited for a while, she went home at 8pm maybe. Then we watched a movie, and were in bed 11pm. 😅

Today we’ll take down our christmas trees (which will break my heart) while watching a recording of the 4-hour New Year’s Eve Japanese song contest Kohaku.

Taking down the tree makes me sad too. I also do it on New Year’s Day. It’s quite beautiful this year (even though the lower limbs are sparse and it’s slightly crooked - we cut it in the forest south of town) and I finally realized how much I hate LED christmas lights (the brightness and intensity of the colors) and I purchased some good old mini incandescents like I used to put on the tree. It made me very happy.
