Well, assuming they made no scientific mistake, and a living thing lived for 24,000 years, or came back to life after being frozen for 24,000 year... is this meant to be about the idea that deceased human beings might be frozen (they are being frozen) and brought back to life in the future? I've always thought this idea was macabre, and I do not believe it is possible or will ever be possible. Imo, these matters or only decided by God (or by the Universe, if you like).

Interesting. I don't think we've been told the full truth about Fukushima, btw. I don't think we ever will be told the full truth about it.

Thanks. I received a notification in writing when I checked my scroll down notifications. It gave me the option to unsubscribe and to report spam. I did both. I also when through specific app notification permissions in my setting and turned off the ones I didn't want. So, in fairness to FB, it has nothing to do with FB. Ok.

Yes, it's an old university. I've actually been there. A lot of impressive scholarship happens there. The renaissance of authentic instruments, performance techniques, and textual analysis of composers' texts in classical music happened there. I, personally, far prefer Cambridge, for many reasons I won't bore you with, though. Again, I'm reminded how young the US is as a nation state. Impressive architecture is ubiquitous in the UK. Love it.

It's a freakish thing to give a prize for that. What a twisted mind.

I had no idea he was 81. I think of of him as one of the “young” conductors…

Things I didn't know: AP was founded in the V de J. I certainly didn't know this. VC and PP were founded in Geneva. I knew this. VC, PP, and AP have manufacturing facilities in the V de J. I had no idea. It's not every day I learn something new about watches. I'm glad I found this ad. 1stDibs site is great selling with its categories. It's good to have along with auction sites, some retail stores in the US (Rau Antiques in New Orleans, Lang in San Francisco) [edit- and in the UK] and the companies' sites. I almost always look at jewelry when I go to 1stDibs. I think I'll make a "picture book" for myself when I get my office set up. I can print pictures and text of jewels and watches, and organize all of it in a large binder. I'd include famous jewelry and crown jewels, and mineralogy. I think that would be a satisfying and relaxing project for me.

Well, the notably large generation born after WWII ended and the US focused on civilian life again, and especially building the economy, accumulated a vast amount of wealth, and this wealth is, or will be in the fullness of time, transfered to people and institutions. My father included me in his will, share and share alike, to my complete surprise, as I've said. My beloved sister died at 39, so this leaves my brother and me. I always just assumed, for various reasons, that he'd leave his estate to my brother. This is, in all modesty, a life changing amount of money, and such a blessing. My aunt (going in birth order) has a net worth I would conservatively estimate at over 3 million. She has this quirk (and she really does) in that she considers her own nuclear family, her first cousins, and her ancestors to be her family. My mother's children are viewed as only an extension of my mother, and we "died" along with my mother. She had no children. She was physically unable to for a reason I was never told. Her treatment of me (in life) isn't rational but, of course, people aren't always rational. Moreover, of course, she had a perfect right, the same as anyone else, to execute her will. My guess is that she will donate most of it to FSU and the rest to animal welfare groups. My uncle is the stereotypical (sorry) uncle people talk about when they talk about maybe they have a rich uncle without children who they hope (um, I know he's a real person, believe me) will leave them money (and I haven't spent a second let alone a minute hoping he would do any such thing, because I know him. He (not me) decided that we would be estranged for life after his mother died. I called the my father's house after my mother died (I knew my aunt and uncle were there), he answered the phone. I said, "My condolences on the death of your sister." and he said, "My condolences on the death of your mother." Then I asked him to put my aunt on the phone. Those are the last words we will speak to each other. I would estimate his net worth at between 5 and 10 million. Again, I don't care what he does with it. It's his right to do anything he wants. But he won't be leaving me a penny. That's for sure. I can't complain. I'm not complaining. On the contrary, I am very grateful to my father. I guess I'm in a contemplative mood sometimes and that this serves to anchor me, to keep my feet on the ground. I'm about to make a transition in my life that is a bigger transition than any I have made in 35 years, maybe a bigger transition than any I have made in the past. This is the part people around me don't understand (with notable exceptions): this is something I have to do alone, a series of decisions and actions I have to take. It's not something that anyone could do for me. It's not something that anyone could "give" me. As to generations, I am Gen. X. I know it. It doesn't offend me.

@adagiom I'll check out your site! @mik @andyd This is where I got my two pair of identical shorts in different colors (navy and dark grey) and 3 t-shirts (white, grey, and navy). They cost a small fortune but they are perfection in every way at least for me. There's no way I could wear a Gildan or Hanes t-shirt to an HOA interview. I also have to hire and meet with a real estate attorney. I have to meet hire a buyer's agent and meet other real estate agents, and possibly owners. I have to buy a car. I will be presentable. My everyday clothes are ok but they wouldn't be up to the task. Reported here, too-- Link to video Background is: he, in error, is operating under the assumption that China and Korea ? tested nuclear weapons, when they only tested weapons capable of delivering them; then he ordered (as yet not happened, planning stage) nuclear tests to be done on American soil. So, all things considered, when he asked for the nuclear codes, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (if I understood correctly) allegedly flat out said, "No."
