Why, with all the evil, suffering, and injustice in the world, do we have to deal with this stupid AF garbage?
You couldn't invent this kind of thematic stupidity if you were writing a novel.

I go back and forth to BC often. There's been no discernible change crossing the border north into Canada, but returning is quite chilly. Whereas in previous crossings there was typically a very brief exchange ("why were you there, anything to declare") it's now a more extensive set of questions, even to the point of asking to see passports (I have a Nexus - trusted traveler card that should bypass all of this). The grocery stores and liquor stores are reflecting the tariffs, even before they went into effect. I'll be curious to see what things look like now that the tarrifs are here. Most stores I've seen are proudly marking their stock as coming from Canada.

This whole thing is so awful, it makes us as a country look bad, it doesn't help anything and is going to actively hurt us all.
This is a bad nightmare that we can't wake up from.

This is all so disheartening. What on earth do statements like that accomplish other than making you look like a complete and total (I’m trying not to to swear so insert whatever nasty word you want), and making a whole lot of other people really angry?

Justin Trudeau, of Canada, called me to ask what could be done about Tariffs. I told him that many people have died from Fentanyl that came through the Borders of Canada and Mexico, and nothing has convinced me that it has stopped. He said that it’s gotten better, but I said, “That’s not good enough.” The call ended in a “somewhat” friendly manner! He was unable to tell me when the Canadian Election is taking place, which made me curious, like, what’s going on here? I then realized he is trying to use this issue to stay in power. Good luck Justin!
For anyone who is interested, I also told Governor Justin Trudeau of Canada that he largely caused the problems we have with them because of his Weak Border Policies, which allowed tremendous amounts of Fentanyl, and Illegal Aliens, to pour into the United States. These Policies are responsible for the death of many people!!

I was listening to an episode of This American Life this morning. The theme was lies. One of the stories interviewed an author who talked about the specific type of lies the stupid carrot tells. He called them “bully lies” and said they are used by people in positions of power. Everyone knows they aren’t true, but they say them with the ultimatum of “believe this or you are the enemy”. It was really interesting - I may seek out his book.

Here is the stupid carrot not understanding very basic things.
REPORTER: Are you considering revoking the TPS status for the more than 20,000 Ukrainians who live here in the US?
TRUMP: What are you saying?
REPORTER: TPS status.
TRUMP: On GPS?

The Ukraine refugee return order has the potential to hit my part of Ohio very hard. Parma, Ohio, two towns over, is home to more Ukrainians than in any one place outside of Ukraine.
The churches are spectacular and the fish frys attract hundreds of people. Nice people, too. Very warm.

I didn’t realize it wasn’t being publicized in the US. It definitely is well known here. That’s why we are so mad.
