Turned out pretty well. The taste is spot on. I marinated the tuna a bit so it wasn’t as bright red. Won’t do that next time. The combination of fruits, vegetables, nuts fish and dressing is great. Raw fennel build is really the star here. [image: 1736638806298-img_4773.jpeg]

@Steve-Miller said in Hey Mik!: The lake is freezing over. I’m told it used to freeze solidly every year and that people could drive on it. This is the first time I’ve seen it freeze since we moved here. He used to do some small scale rum running during Prohibition, until some of the bigger fish gangster rum runners caught them and started shooting.

Great article, thanks @wtg ! We really hate those super bright lights. Our car has a low profile, so that makes us more susceptible to the SUVs and trucks as well. On the topic of safety... Americans drive too fast and the speed limits are too high. Given how fast everyone is driving, I totally get the desire for "down-road punch." If everyone slowed down, maybe that would be mitigated somewhat.... And to the other point in the article, yes, I'm afraid there is an increase in selfishness... as well as just a lack of awareness of, or interest in, one's impact on others.

These are great! That panda one looks like a sexy panda pin-in that belongs in a 1950s panda mechanic's shop.

Arrrrhh, arrrrrrh, arrrrrrh. In the case of this pirates' nest, yep! Just an additional comment on the term: our real estate agent introduced me to the word when she used it after telling us about the fire sale price of the interior accoutrements. "You can have it turnkey ..."

Made the bean soup tonight. Too bland, so I added more salt and pepper plus some liquid smoke. Tastes pretty good with an unfussy Bordeaux and sourdough toast.

I was in the thick of the massive development effort that made sure no catastrophe happened. Billions of dollars spent, but it should have been addressed over the preceding two decades.
