One more reason I've chosen to not buy a new car. The others being high cost, first year depreciation, planned obsolescence, and proprietary software (and I won't be able to avoid that one). I didn't need another reason.
I say if you can afford/ risk it, then do it.
There are new cars I'd buy in spite of this information if I could afford them (e.g. a Porsche 911, etc.)
