My new car

Looks like this, same color. Hyundai Elantra:
2025 model, 12 miles on odometer. I've never owned a brand new car before. Actually, I won't own it, I'll be on a three year lease. Will see how that goes. I think it will suit me better now that I don't drive as much.
But man, I hate the whole purchasing experience. Why do I always feel yucky after sitting with the car sales reps? They do deserve the reputation they have, imo. They exude an air of dishonesty via omission. She had to bring me three different proposals because the first one had a program we hadn't talked about, and I hadn't said I wanted. $3K worth from Allstate! Second one came back with numbers for $1k, $2k, and $3k down payments. I had told her I wanted to put $5k down. We finally got the proposal I had asked for.
Now I'm figuring out whether I have to sign up for an online account where access to Bluelink will be available. I have no desire and no intention to use Bluelink at all. I have no desire and no intention to link my phone to my car. And I have every intention of finding out what sort of information the car will be sending back to their databases. To my knowledge, NH has statutes prohibiting the tracking of people without their permission. I'm just not sure if it will be required by the lease? Ugh. So much convenience; I can't stand it.
The good news is I found out I have a perfect credit score, and as soon as AAA gets their show together and closes out the claim (which is still open because I just returned the rental yesterday), I'll have a new car in the driveway. At the moment, due to AAA messing about, the dealership gave me a loaner.
The AAA holdup is that the dealership had me call AAA to get the binder for my new car. The problem is that AAA didn't program their system to allow more than one phone number, and they wanted my primary phone number, and that is my home phone, not my cell. But since the claim was still open, the person who was supposed to send the binder said she had to text me a code, but she could only send it to my primary phone number, which was 35 miles away. Oh don't you just love all this convenience. Stupidity is more like it.
So I returned the rental yesterday and hopefully the claim will be closed Monday. But when I got home, I went to AAA website and changed my primary number to my cell phone just in case. (Even though it's not my primary number, and it's turned off 99% of the time.) Now, why in the world would a company be so short sighted to not accommodate both a primary phone and a secondary phone number? Outrageous.

Looks a nice car. Hyundai do not sell the Elantra in the UK... I had to google to discover this. Is that your colour choice? Mazda do a similar red and I like it.
I reckon most people feel the same as you when buying cars.
We buy nearly new, get a building society loan if we need more cash and so can negotiate a bit (especially when our economy is bombing as it seems to be).
I hate the way dealers say "It'll be an extra xxx for the service we did" (when the log book says it was fully serviced only 3 months ago) "It'll be an extra xxx for the cloth protection" No thanks.
"It'll be an extra xxx to move it from a to b" I'll go collect it. -

The follow up. I have the car and I love it.
Before I set out for the dealership to pick up the car, I called my insurer's local office to have them send the binder and the really helpful agent told me I never needed to have a code texted to my phone!! Crickey! I told him the rep I spoke to the week before really put the damper on my day. So that was all squared away.
I called Hyundai to inquire about my 'account' and bluelink and explained that my temporary password had expired. Again, nice agent, but horribly difficult to hear and understand. He got me into my account and said my car doesn't have bluelink! I asked him three times to double check and explained how the saleslady had told me she had enabled it. He assured me emphatically and had me look at the web page to see there was nothing there. I'm not pursuing it any further. I don't want it, so all's well that ends well.
One little (really quite minor) disappointment is I can't hook up my iPod (I'm so old fashioned) with the usb cable like I could in my older car. It looks like bluetooth is the only option for connecting auxiliary devices. Oh, well.

@Bernard, congratulations on getting the new car!

Yeah I noticed that with newer cars these days. USB is now "charging-only" in newer cars. Data functions have to go over Bluetooth.
