Looks a nice car. Hyundai do not sell the Elantra in the UK... I had to google to discover this. Is that your colour choice? Mazda do a similar red and I like it.

I reckon most people feel the same as you when buying cars.
We buy nearly new, get a building society loan if we need more cash and so can negotiate a bit (especially when our economy is bombing as it seems to be).
I hate the way dealers say "It'll be an extra xxx for the service we did" (when the log book says it was fully serviced only 3 months ago) "It'll be an extra xxx for the cloth protection" No thanks.
"It'll be an extra xxx to move it from a to b" I'll go collect it.

Congratulations, @Bernard . Nice looking car and I also like the color.

From what @AndyD says, it would seem the disdain for car salesmen is universal....

Yes. It was this or grey. I've had a grey car, time for some color, and I too, like this shade of red.

@Bernard I love the color!! Great choice!

Aren't gray cars supposed be more likely to get hit by other cars because they don't stand out as much as other colors? (our car is gray.....)

Back in the 70's, Rover gave customers a Lunar-Gray colour option, and rumour had it that insurers charged you more as during twilight hours it was like camouflage

Congratulations on the new wheels, Bernard! I love red cars. Ours are both red, too.

I share your disdain for car salesmen. I avoid them even when purchasing - I do the entire thing over the internet with several dealers and then only show up to pick up the car.

                              Congratulations!

I've decided to get a Hyundai instead of a Toyota.

I'll post about it when I get it.

The follow up. I have the car and I love it.

Before I set out for the dealership to pick up the car, I called my insurer's local office to have them send the binder and the really helpful agent told me I never needed to have a code texted to my phone!! Crickey! I told him the rep I spoke to the week before really put the damper on my day. So that was all squared away.

I called Hyundai to inquire about my 'account' and bluelink and explained that my temporary password had expired. Again, nice agent, but horribly difficult to hear and understand. He got me into my account and said my car doesn't have bluelink! I asked him three times to double check and explained how the saleslady had told me she had enabled it. He assured me emphatically and had me look at the web page to see there was nothing there. I'm not pursuing it any further. I don't want it, so all's well that ends well.

One little (really quite minor) disappointment is I can't hook up my iPod (I'm so old fashioned) with the usb cable like I could in my older car. It looks like bluetooth is the only option for connecting auxiliary devices. Oh, well.

Yeah I noticed that with newer cars these days. USB is now "charging-only" in newer cars. Data functions have to go over Bluetooth. 🀷
