News sources?

Who is to say who is telling lies and distortions? A lot of that comes from the reader’s starting position. I like to hear conflicting viewpoints. If you don’t understand where your opponents are coming from you’re unlikely to deal with them effectively. I think Im pretty good at discerning truth from rhetoric.

A study of the facts, and history as written by professional historians makes it pretty clear where the lies and distortions come from. Call me old fashioned, but I don't believe each of us is entitled to our own facts.

Pretty irrelevant when trying to make sense out of others' positions. Just calling them liars and quoting historians isn't going to get you anywhere. People sadly do not operate on facts but on presentations mixed with emotions.

I usually check in with the local public radio news site in addition to BBC

Have a look at late night TV commentary shows. Seth Myers. John Oliver. Colbert. You don’t have to stay up late, they’re all on YouTube the next day.
Might be the most honest news commentary available.

Any updates on your preferred news sources? I have a subscription to The NY Times and am constantly shocked by their Trump same-washing and soft-pedaling of his abuses.
Also Paul Krugman and Charles Blow stopped writing for them because their editors so bolloxed up their columns as to be unrecognizable.

@RealPlayer I dumped the Times after their "non-endorsement" endorsement of Cuomo, and their ridiculous decision to publish Andrew Sullivans diatribe against the gay community on the anniversary date of Obergefell. Totally tasteless decision. They aren't relevant to me any more.
My sources: The Guardian, UnHerd (for alternative views), ProPublica, Joe.My.God for raw headlines (which I often ignore during the day because it's overload), Jen Rubin, Robert Reich, and Paul Krugman on substack, and Talking Points Memo.
