Our first ever fake tree is up and decorated, and i have to say I'm pretty impressed. It is truly the most lifelike fake tree I have ever seen! Even better -- it was less than $150 for a 9 foot tree!

@Lisa Wow! Great tree, beautifully decorated. Where did you get the tree?

We came back from Kona, Hawaii on Thursday night. Since then I’ve put up new lights on the porch roof, hung the handknit stockings, and put up my tiny tree. Cleaning the house early so I can enjoy it before hosting Christmas dinner for the family.

I cleaned all the wax off the menorahs, too!

@wtg Amazon. And it was less than $150 too, which is amazing.

(The first review is mine, LOL! When I bought it there were only like 6 reviews and only 1 or 2 had (very blurry far away) photos. I wanted to fix that for future buyers LOL!)

              That's great!

I see they have smaller, trees, too. Our room is small the ceilings are only 8' tall. Will look out for a possible sale...maybe post-Christmas...

At daughter’s. We’re doing experiences rather than presents this year so it’s a bit thin.

We were in the Arts District last night. A vintage shop had several 60’s silver trees with revolving colored lights.

Well, we put all of our ornaments away. This year (well, technically last year) I bought some more ornament cases and migrated all of my ornaments into those. They're the kind of cases where each ornament can have its own slot, and you can move the dividers to change the size of the slots. Each case is only one layer as well (except for two cases that I have which have two layers). Anyway, this made it much easier to put them away, and I can see all the ornaments in each case through the clear plastic lid, which will make it easier to decorate next time.

It also made it easy to count the number of ornaments!

I clocked in at a total of 382 across two trees! 😃 Probably the smaller tree was around a 100 and the rest were on the bigger tree. And I completely filled up all the cases! 11 cases with one layer and moveable dividers, one case for larger ornaments, two cases that have two layers (I put the ornaments I don't like on the bottom layers 😅 One cardboard box for the tree toppers (I have four). Whew!

Mr SK said "well, you can't buy any more ornaments because the cases are all full now." Umm... But I can just buy more cases! 😆

Anyway, the ornaments are all put away but we haven't put the actual trees away yet, so they're still there, with the lights on. Still pretty, if a little muted compared to what they look like decorated. But Mr. SK tells me he'll be putting the trees away this afternoon....

I always feel a little sad when that happens, but it's also a nice fresh start to the new year!

BTW most of our ornaments are finials on the shape of balls, onions, the teardrop shape, a few long skinny ones etc.

But this year (ok, last year) I added this to the collection.

I have a piano ornament like that. Has black glitter on it. 🙂 I usually leave the christmas decor up until we get longer daylight hours. It is very dark here, and the lights alleviate that. 9F outside right now, pitch dark, and snowing hard all day.

Last year I left most of my decor up until Candlemas (Feb. 2)--the official end of the Christmas season. I always leave them up at least until Epiphany (Jan. 6)/Twelfth Night. Not sure about this year but I don't think I'll wait for Candlemas.

Our Christmas decorations stay up until Epiphany. Lights on the outside of the house stay up until it’s not so dreary out. I did put the menorahs away yesterday.

Less interested in the trees than in the pianos!

First time I’ve seen Piqué’s Grotrian, I think.

And nice to see real “parlor” grands!

I can imagine! I love the soft white Christmas lights, they make everything feel twinkly and warm. 🙂

                                        @Bernard and @AdagioM

Jan. 6th is always my take-down day, but this year the 6th is a Monday and I have a ton of meetings on that day -_- so I planned to undecorate early this year. If we had outdoor lights, I’d want them out longer.

@RealPlayer want do you mean by “real parlor grand”? Is that a length thing, or something else?

Maybe I should just call mine a “dining room grand” since it’s in the room that’s supposed to be the dining room. 😅
