I'm very much a 'football highlights are on the news' person.
But the world cup brings in the south americans and others to make it an interesting and more exciting competition.

So first game I'm watching, going to have to do a search cos I thought Curaçao is a drink?

Well done USA on their start the other night!

That was the first game I started to actually see on field strategy.

First thing I've noticed are cameras down one of the sidelines giving a nice feel of what it's really like on the pitch.

Boycotting FIFA. Not that it matters much because I don't watch football, soccer, etc., etc. anyway. 🙂

@Daniel Gross exploitation. Dynamic ticket prices (4 US AGs have launched investigations), the water fiasco (where FIFA said it would no longer allow spectators to brings refillable water bottles to fill from taps at the statiums, forcing people to buy $5 - $10 bottled water from the concession; some sort of compromised was reached--too late), and FIFA's issuing the FIFA Peace Prize to none other than the orange menace. It's clear that FIFA is only concerned with money and they'll kiss anybody's ass for it (like much of the corporate world), not football.

@bernard I noticed the list of their corporate partners. It reads like the list of the corporate entities backing my investment portfolio. This ubiquitous corporatism having infiltrated almost every aspect of our society is unfortunate and when it can't be escaped directly, private- public partnerships are there chasing people down in the way that Alice was famously chased down by the cards. I like football (soccer) much better than American football (which I loathe) but I'll join your boycott with pleasure not that they'll care about the money I wouldn't have spent in the first place.

Futbol is the only game I’ll watch and the World Cup is the only time I’ll watch it.

US-Paraguay was a great match but Scotland-Haiti was even better. Haiti dominated the entire match but couldn’t figure out how to make a goal.

                      Fascinating.
