@bernard I noticed the list of their corporate partners. It reads like the list of the corporate entities backing my investment portfolio. This ubiquitous corporatism having infiltrated almost every aspect of our society is unfortunate and when it can't be escaped directly, private- public partnerships are there chasing people down in the way that Alice was famously chased down by the cards. I like football (soccer) much better than American football (which I loathe) but I'll join your boycott with pleasure not that they'll care about the money I wouldn't have spent in the first place.

Futbol is the only game I’ll watch and the World Cup is the only time I’ll watch it.

US-Paraguay was a great match but Scotland-Haiti was even better. Haiti dominated the entire match but couldn’t figure out how to make a goal.

      Fascinating.

We don’t generally watch the World Cup, but we sort of track how things are going, so we did notice that a Japan had a draw for its first game. -_-

@bernard i only knew a few of those details. Yuck!

The idea of them giving a peace prize is ridiculous.

Japan and Germany got eliminated in rapid succession.

Last time that happened was 1945.

                  England 2 DR Congo 1
                  After the game
Harry Kane got the team in a line in front of the stands packed with fans and is leading the team and the fans in a song. Have never seen that.
Kane is a superb player and captain of the team.

Unabashed corruption. Glad I'm boycotting. Why even play the game when this level of cheating exists? I can't link the article from the NYTimes because I'm not a subscriber, but these paragraphs were lifted from it...

President Trump called Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, on Wednesday and asked him to review the suspension of the United States’ top goal scorer, Folarin Balogun, after he was given a red card in the team’s match that night against Bosnia and Herzegovina. On Sunday, FIFA announced that Mr. Balogun would be eligible to play Monday against Belgium after it reversed the suspension.

The reversal is highly unusual and the first time since 1962 that FIFA has allowed a player to appear in a game when they would have been suspended. It also comes as Mr. Infantino has spent years trying to curry favor with Mr. Trump.

Last year, FIFA created and gave Mr. Trump the FIFA Peace Prize amid the president’s public, but failed, campaign to win the Nobel Peace Prize. FIFA did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Pascale Van Damme, the president of the Belgian federation, did not reply to a message seeking comment.

                    The industrial revolution cheapened everything.

I agree with the numerous Youtube videos and the commentators in that it should never have been a red card. Red cards are reserved for deliberate, malicious acts.
