    Though I was raised mostly in the yellow region, I was raised by parents from green areas and that's my inheritance.

      Totally green. In fact, for me, barbecue is all grilling, no smoking.

      The industrial revolution cheapened everything.

        Spent my whole life in yellow and my definition is the same as @bernard . "We're going to barbecue" meant my parents were going to cook Italian sausages on the charcoal grill. Kingsford charcoal, please.

                Deep in the green, here. However, now I say grilling unless I mean BBQ (smoking). Maybe because Rob got really into BBQ for a bit so we changed our terminology to match? But chili has beans.
