Here's hoping for a complete recovery.

Do remember to take care of yourself as well - caring for the caregiver. Hope you have a good support system.

I second Mik. Do remember to take care of yourself as well.

I concur with these hopes and advice. I know what the caregiving tasks impose on my wife.

Just missed this dreadful news, wtg, and am so very sorry to hear of it. Sending deepest concern and care for healing. I'm glad at least it seems that change is in the positive direction.

Wishes for strength and faith for wtg as you weather this major storm of life.

Sending you the powerful MiShebeirach Jewish prayer for healing (it's not just for Jews).

Debbie Friedman, who is singing and accompanying the famous prayer, also wrote it, performs it here while suffering from cancer.

It had already become a classic of Jewish liturgy in all branches of Judaism even though traditionally women are forbidden to sing before men.

Mr wtg continues to make slow but steady progress in acute rehab. He is supposed to be discharged to home tomorrow and will go to day rehab three times a week starting next week. He is just able to pick up his right leg, mostly from the hip, but that is huge progress. I am more comfortable helping him transfer from chair/bed to wheelchair and back again.

Right arm still not moving much but seems to have a little bit of muscle tone it didn't have before. Lots of small steps.

I have hopefully gotten the house set up so that we can get into a daily routine and continue to work on getting him stronger.

Thanks again to everyone for your good wishes. Please keep that positive energy headed our way!!

@wtg Thank you for the update. Going home is a big step, and although it comes with its own challenges, I'm sure it will be a relief for him.

You are both in my thoughts!

BTW, I used Claude early on to interpret imaging reports, and later I fed it all the PT and OT reports. Am using AI carefully, mostly to explain what certain terminology means. It explained what was going on (imaging) and also the "lingo" of PT and OT. It was most helpful. My first use of AI...it saved me a lot of time....

I also tried to use it to come up with the right ramp configuration so we can get into the house with Mr wtg in a wheelchair. It gave some info on ramp manufacturers who make quality products, but it failed pretty miserably at basic geometry....I ended up doing my own "design", which I tested today with the wheel chair that was delivered. I set up the ramps and did a dry run with an empty chair, and then had a friend come over and I took her for a ride up into the house and a tour around the first floor. Everything worked as expected!
