I actually like Kelly for a lot of reasons, too. I don't know much about Shapiro but it seems he's a possibility.
Saw this article about the VP selection process for both sides. Thought I'd share it here.

I can’t even tell you how crazy it makes me that putting two women, or a woman and a gay man, on the ticket is thinkable. I know that beating the carrot is of utmost importance, but even if a mad man wasn’t in danger of being re-elected, it would still be unthinkable. I, for one, think it would be refreshing for two people who have had to fight for their rights (and who currently risk losing them) to be in charge.
But, everyone knows what will actually happen.

I've been laughing for the last five minutes...that's such a wonderful turn of a phrase....

I guess our governor Pritzker has been under consideration...

I know that Kelly isn’t as charismatic as some of the others. But he has a lot of the right measurables that will make people comfortable. Military background, wife is Gabby Giffords. Yeah, he’s a straight white dude, but a large percentage of the country is straight white dudes … probably a higher percentage than anything other than straight white women. A black Southeast Asian woman is on top of the ticket. Let’s get her elected and do whatever we need to do to make that happen.

Yep, totally agree. It’s really frustrating. But,

This.
Also, “radioactively caucasian” made me LOL!

I get that the democrats need to do whatever it is going to take to win. I just cringe at the idea that the only way to “make people comfortable” is for the ticket has to have a straight white dude on it. Like it is only ok for a woman/Black/Brown/Queer person to be on the ticket if a straight white guy is there to hold up the status quo. It sucks for everyone who is not a straight white guy (more than 70% of folks in the US) to know that they will never be trusted to lead without the straight white guy looking over their shoulder.

Kelly just keeps looking better and better:

I like Josh Shapiro and voted for him as governor. I wouldn't relish losing him in that role, but if that's what it takes this November, then so be it.

Um.. actually, it's a rather unfortunate phrase. I know what you meant, but it has another more common usage.
-
Happens to me a lot. I missed the whole teabagger thing, too.
"Common usage" depends on who you hang out with.
eta: I think I did it again.

Roy Cooper of NC has removed himself from contention for the VP spot.

Fundraising.
Harris was expected to have fundraising trouble. Here’s why big donors are actually lining up in droves.
The idea that Kamala Harris would be unable to raise money has been quickly dismissed, with enthusiasm for her presidential bid hinging on who she’s up against — and who she’s replacing.

It’s down to six.
Not sure who it will be, but I’m of the opinion it won’t be Pritzker. Am thinking Walz or Shapiro.
