We got maybe 2-3 of inches downtown Chicago? Perhaps another inch into early afternoon. Still cold, temps in the low teens.

We're getting a bit more snow than expected. Woke up to an inch or so (the original prediction), but then the snow machine revved up. There was mention of the possibility of lake effect snow, so things could get interesting...

I just took a loaf of sourdough bread out of the oven. Looking forward to hot soup and fresh bread for lunch!

Popped out to shovel off the deck outside the back door. The snow is light as air! A shovelful of snow weighs nothing.

        I can handle this flavor of winter. โ˜ƒ โ„ ๐Ÿ‚ โ›„

We had 10.5 inches in our driveway at 8am. While we were out there shoveling, it continued to come down at a pretty good pace, and now, after three hours, it's still coming down. Mr SK used the blower attachment that we have (which is too heavy for me, and also you have to keep your fingers on the trigger the whole time, which I can't really do), and I used a regular shovel. This is the first time I've shoveled in years. I wouldn't say the snow was light as air here, but it's definitely on the light side, powdery and very pretty.

It's so pretty outside my window! The photos don't do it justice. But here are some.

            6โ€ snow so far - I measured. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Noticed my neighbors all out clearing their driveways even though snow was still falling. When in Romeโ€ฆ

It was actually kind of fun! Snow very light and the machine threw it like 20โ€™. Started on the first pull, too.

Yes. I went to my friends' house and used my leaf blower to clean off everything there. Didn't even have to pick up a shovel.

We did that because it just gets harder to manage the deeper it gets. So it's easier to shovel twice rather than wait for it to stop and then just shoveling once.

I suppose if you had a real snow blower, than would be the case, but not if you're shoveling or using one like our "snow blower," which is one of those attachments (Ego battery operated), it can't really handle much deeper than about what we had this morning.

The snow is predicted to stop around 4m or 5pm, and then Mr SK will go out again, but he should be able to do it just with the blower.

Iโ€™ve been out to shovel twice so far. My surrounding neighbours have all done the same. Way better than dealing with it all at once! Especially since then the bottom layer gets more compacted and harder to shovel. We have only gotten about 6โ€ so far.

74 feels like 77, feels like 87 to me.

My little room is always the hottest or the coldest in this tin can. Don't know why.

I'm off to catch up on the storm news.

Been snowing all day. Due to get 12"-18". Won't do anything until it's over, some time tomorrow. Snowblower will have it taken care of in less than an hour. Today's high, so far, is 6 F.
