People love sugar in whatever form it's delivered to them. Maybe we should classify it as a controlled substance. Big Al

We haven't worn masks for a couple of years. Coincidentally today we just chucked packets of out-of-date covid tests. We tried a variety of masks most of which were poor quality and relatively expensive, but you bought what was available during the crisis. For efficient protection we ended up buying these: [image: 1737067570741-20250116_224521-resized.jpg]

Agriculture comprises about 10 percent of Kern County’s gross domestic product and undocumented workers may comprise half of the workforce, he said. And the Central Valley provides about a quarter of the United States’ food. “So, you WILL see, in the long run, food inflation and food shortages,” he wrote in a text message. Wonder how the next administration will blame Biden for the price increases.

We had a Panasonic that went 25+ years. The replacement Panasonic, with an "inverter technology" lasted maybe 3 years. I bought a Farberware for cheap a couple of years ago because it was the right size and I liked that I could get a white and stainless microwave. Some of our appliances are white and some are stainless. The Farberware looks like it fits right in. So far, so good.

@Mik said in Brain monitoring: The idea that the task should be adapted to the person is entirely contrary to all human advancement. adaptability has been the source of our success. Excellent point!

Darlington, stunning, mad, beautiful, impractical! Made me smile as it's something of a contrast to the town of the same name down the road from us... until I realised it must have been named because of the railway connection. https://sdr200.co.uk/

She hasn’t been a great mayor but she had nothing to do with the intensity of the fires.

Well, there was a fascist coup attempt against FDR. The plot involved installing a general as head of state. The attempt failed when the general betrayed the fascists. It certainly could happen here.

@Steve-Miller said in Mediterranean Diet: This is my new go-to meatloaf recipe. Prep is a bit more involved than most recipes but the taste is there and it holds together well. https://thecozycook.com/turkey-meatloaf-recipe/ That's along the lines of the Market Street Meatloaf I posted above, but made with turkey rather than beef and pork. I really like the moistness that the diced sauteed veggies give it. Will try the Cozy Cook version!
