    Oops. Turns out I'm behind the times. Grande used to be Starbucks' biggest size, but now...

      My understanding is you can still order a short it’s just not on the menu. I haven’t tested that in about 15 years, but that was well after they introduced the venti and took the short off the menu.

      Once I ordered a grande and the woman didn’t hear me well and said ‘venti?’ I said ‘no, sedici’. No one but me laughed.

        Short tepid nonfat latte used to be my SBUX order of choice. I tried that in NYC and the young woman behind the counter didn’t know what tepid meant.

          So they're of Italian origin (mea culpa, wrongly assumed American Spanish influence).
          You know how we Brits are with languages. Nearly everything here including Starbucks uses small/medium/large.

          Seems McD only do small. Small chips, small packets of chips, small buns. Smaller burgers too.
          It's shrinkflated.
          Still, got to love the golden arches logo.

            @AdagioM
            Never realised the coffee machines did anything other than frothy hot or icy cold.

              @AndyD I think it has to do with how hot you heat the milk for the latte.

              The counterperson in NYC didn’t want to admit she didn’t know what tepid was, so she kept saying, “short nonfat latte?” and I kept saying “short tepid nonfat latte.” I finally gave up and said, “not too hot.”

                I have discovered that, in a pinch, with no other options around, the espresso shots at Dunkin’ are really not bad.

                      Drinking roasted barley instead of coffee, have become too caffeine sensitive.
                      Use it in my espresso machine.
