I'm guessing that the Virginia Supreme Court will soon allow us to vote on an initiative to redistrict Virginia for 2026, overturning a rural district court's injunction.

With you Steve. We humans are weird in the things we're attracted to. I think the days started better watching Captain Kangaroo than listening to the news. There's some comfort in that. Best to get out of our houses - and take a walk in the forest - or look at the stars from time-to-time for a counterpoint to the madness that exists outside. Find a quiet place to retreat to from time-to-time.

She had to spend $600 on tires at the same time. She was not in a good mood. I didn't ask but I'm assuming she had electric space heaters so their lives were not in danger or not in too much danger. This is happening all over the US. This never happened when I was growing up.

I have a warm spot in my heart for Minnesota as I was born there many years ago. Didn’t live there long, but we used to go back and visit relatives from time to time and I remember them as being good solid Midwestern people. I’m very glad to see them standing up for their values.

Interesting. Here in Illinois, the inspections are done by a state agency and you don't pay anything. Well, except the taxes that we pay to support state government. If your car flunks you can't renew your license plates until you can pass the inspection.

We're having a terrible early February. By now I've studied survival skills, e.g. how soldiers in the field kept from freezing to death during WWI and WWII. What I wouldn't give to have wool bedding and clothing. I've learned a bunch of facts about the different kinds of wool, the different ways it's processed, and the different methods used to make wool products.
