Christmas, Hanukkah, New Year's...staying home? hosting? traveling?
Oh, and happy first day of winter. It starts any minute now, I think...

Heading out to Las Vegas on the 24th to visit with the sons and eldest's daughter-in-law, and visiting our/their friends. We'll also spend three days in Joshua Tree NP, and tour some area houses. Hopefully I'll also get to do some hiking in the surrounding mountains. Might hike up Black Mountain, back permitting.

We will be in Henderson as well, with a side trip to the Grand Canyon South Rim, Flagstaff and Sedona. Leaving Monday.

What, is everyone going to Nevada for the holidays? I feel left out.

Muffin and Muffin's Partner will arrive on Christmas Eve. Muffin's Partner's parents and aunt will be with us for the day on Christmas, so I am happily poking around in my new kitchen, getting ready for the feast. On the day after, two of their best friends are coming out to spend the day after Christmas. (Boxing Day, I guess).
Then a couple of days later, I'm flying to Orlando to spend time with Muffin's Brother's family. And after I get back, we'll go spend a day with my sister south of Boston. I expect we will also see the East Coast Quirtlet and Quirt's mom in there somewhere, too.
This is why we left Oklahoma.

Oh, and I'll go to Muffin's Sister's in February for her birthday. I wouldn't want you to think she was getting left out.

We are not traveling (yay!) but my mother is planning to come here after Christmas.
We're having some friends over on the 24th, and other than that it will be be quiet till Mum gets here.
Oh, and next week, I'm scheduled to play with my cello friend again, really looking forward to that!

I'm having the couple across the street and my other neighbor over for dinner on Monday evening. I'll make Polynesian Shrimp, coconut rice, etc. We'll try the Christmas cake I made last month, and some hand dipped chocolates I made this past week.

Christmas Eve locally, dinner at the Toddlers. Jane always lays out a fine spread. We’re hosting Christmas Day.
Greg’s extended family arrives 12/26, including Tori’s Mom flying in from VA, with her sister and BF driving up from Philadelphia. We’ll decamp for the lake to have room for them all.
Looking forward to it!

Quiet around here, as usual! We are having the fam over for Christmas Eve, but it’s only us, my folks, kid and his girlfriend, and my aunt. Rather than a sit down dinner, we are going to do a snacky charcuterie/dips/appetizer situation. The kids have so many different roast dinners to do over three or four days that I figured it might be nice for them to have something a bit different.
Other than that, just Rob and I and lots of board games. His office decided to shut down between Christmas and New Years (which makes a lot of sense, since Boxing Day is a holiday here so they would have been working just the Friday and Monday and whatever half-work might happen on New Years Eve! So we be in full hibernation mode for about a week!

We had Thanksgiving with Mr. AM’s family in St. Louis, and Christmas dinner will be at our house here in PDX. There will be 12 of us all together. Prime rib, my sister is cooking it on her Traeger. I just have to do sides.

Doug - that's a great eggs sample of your humor. We visit in Carol's sister's for eve - and spend X-day in seclusion. The authorities prefer it that way. Spouse is in cookie baking mode at the moment.

I'll be spending them with the ball and chain karma gave to me. It won't be anything like a Christmas card. I can assure you.
Most of my family has passed. But I did have reunions with my brother and my cousin this year after losing my Dad.
Bittersweet.

We hosted a party about a week ago. Cookies and hot mulled cider. We're open for strays on Christmas day. Having rack of lamb as the main course, with chocolate mousse for dessert. Quiet here, lots of sitting by the fire. For the full holiday week a busy local barn's indoor arena is vacant, so I plan to ride every single day our road is passable.

A Delta flight from Cincinnati to Las Vegas was diverted to Kansas City on one of the busiest travel days of the year Monday due to an “unruly customer,” an airline spokesperson confirms.
@Mik - You really need to learn to chill...
