Another hurricane is set to hit Florida. FEMA hasn't finished processing our application for the damage Milton caused. This has been the worst hurricane season for the Tampa area in my lifetime.

Frost warnings are up and it’s about time.

I learned tonight that this might be the first year four hurricanes will have made landfall in Florida. I'm thinking this means the first time since 1848. This is beyond tiresome at this point.

I just joined Bluesky Social.
I made an account there and posted for a while, but stopped posting or visiting almost a year ago. I couldn’t get it set up in a way that the posts that were coming to my feed were of much interest, and I could never tell if that was because of something I was doing wrong, or because there weren’t a lot of members yet, or because of how the site is set up.
I’m trying to remember now what it was I thought that was different from Twitter, that Twitter used to do but BlueSky didn’t…

Saw a naturopath in Colorado for my stomach problems. HIs advice put me back on my feet. Some of the problem remains so I thought I would see one while in Arizona.
Just finished an introductory telehealth appointment with a naturopath in Tucson. Replied to his follow up email with- " I will be seeking help elsewhere."
He started with several minutes of BS and kept that up after a couple of questions/ -
@ShiroKuro It feels like Twitter used to, pre-Elon. It has grown hugely since the election. I’m trying to figure out who to follow, and some that I’ve followed I’m muting because they repost too much or are too alarmist. But so far (one day), so good.
I am also relatively new on Threads, but I can’t figure out how to make the feed what I really want to see.
My main reason for joining Bluesky is that it’s not a Meta product, and it’s not an Elon product. And I want a news source that’s not as craven as my usual sources.

Let's see:
Car accident on Oct 5th, still dealing with whiplash. Kid rear ended me as I was showing to make a turn. He had to have been traveling 45 mph.
Then a friend's funeral and memorial service--well-attended by people who flew in on planes. Lots of hugging and tears. Three days later, my first case of Covid arrived while riding out on the national forest. But got my Car back from the body Shop looking good as new. Went on Paxlovid two days later. (It helped a lot!) Five days after that, Mr Pique's first case of Covid. Canceled everything.Now--back in physical therapy and tomorrow--drumroll--I am getting my first professional haircut in five years.
Continuing to ride my horse and trim her feet--in a neck brace.
And we are forecast to have a very severe winter. Hoping to get somewhere warm for a good long time. Just today arranged boarding for the HoPos.

There was a massive explosion in a factory here around 3pm yesterday, about a mile and a half from our place. Two employees killed, a handful of others hospitalized. It blew the windows out of many buildings around the plant, and it was heard for miles. It was just down the street from where we do yoga.
-
@DeweyLOU I’m sorry; that’s terrible. What kind of factory was it?
-
Well, it turns out Milton did slight damage to my roof. Integrity (metal) not compromised, no leaks. FEMA (wrongly) denied our application because of an internal mix up. I understand this has happened to many people.
And, I guess there's a new hurricane and/or storm that's going to hit the west coast of Florida. I don't know. I haven't looked at meteorology sites since yesterday afternoon.
-
I just got home and checked. It's not expected to be serious here.
Many people got rained dumped on them in Honduras and the same phenomenon that happened in North Carolina happened to them. Water totals double (and more) when a hurricane hits a mountainous region. There's the rain from the storm and then the next thing that happens is it flows downwards from the mountains.

@AdagioM it's apparently a company that makes artificial colors for beverages. Obviously a non-stick end product, but their process uses ammonia, and a large pressurized storage vessel exploded.
