How many clocks do you have to change?

Turns out the car changed itself.
Alarm clock is a simple button for DST on/off.
Three appliances- stove, microwave, coffeemaker.
Took less than 1m in total.
I still don’t get all the fuss this issue brings.

Oh for the record, I don't either! I was just laughing at how many clocks we have.
Also FTR, I really don't want them to do away with DST, move to permanent standard time or DST. I love the late, late summer evenings when it's light until practically 9:30pm, and I would hate for it to be super dark in the mornings all winter long.
I get that changing the time comes with some issues, but I prefer it to the alternatives (as I understand them).

Yeah few people seem to know that we went off of DST in the 70s and reversed ourselves within a year.
The vast majority of people who are against it aren’t thinking about the effects on half the year, they’re thinking only about not having to change clocks twice a year, as if everything else stays the same.
Of course for southern states it wouldn’t matter too much. But in the north, especially on the western edge of time zones, it would be a big deal.

You know, I don’t know if I knew that.

Yeah it would be so awful. I don’t get how people do not realize this.

@jon-nyc @shirokuro We'll agree to disagree.
@jon-nyc It's a big deal because it involves time and humans are fascinated with time (chronos). We invented it.
Our time signal of course comes from an atomic clock today.
The error rate could not be lower.
But time has no actual starting moment nor ending moment.
It's a human construct so it makes sense humans are fascinated with it.
I've said this before but I spent 7 years studying horology intensively and collecting mechanical wristwatches.
It was a great experience.
My stove just freaked me out. It said 5 a.m. Changing it is in not on my to do list for today.
I think I'll follow the elections and let it go until tomorrow.

So yesterday I changed the last old alarm clock on my bedside table, and didn’t realize I hadn’t pushed the switch all the way over from the “set time” spot and it landed on alarm on and the freaking thing woke me up at 2am and then my brain took off without me and I couldn’t get back to sleep and ended up unloading the dishwasher and doing laundry at 3:30 am because I figure I might as well do something useful, even though it was the middle of the night. I hate when that happens.

I don’t mind changing the clocks. The cats’ internal clocks are not in sync with the household clocks though, and they won’t be for about a week.
@AdagioM We’re a cat-free household these days, but I remember those days well.

I think the problem is the length of the day changes gradually, but we change the clocks all at once.
we should change the clocks by 10 minutes each month, six adds and six subtracts.
Then everyone would be happy!
