Being as I know you’re concerned that two old guys on the road aren’t getting proper nutrition I’m compelled to report on our supper. Forgot to take a picture.
Being as we are nearing the end of our journey we decided to use up our leftovers. Bought a head of romaine and combined it with a few steak chunks, leftover stir fried veg, the rest of the tomatoes, a few spoonfuls of black beans, chopped onions and what was left of the quinoa. Stirred a bit of water in to what was left of the Tzatziki dip for a dressing. Garnished with some of the garlic chives I brought from my home garden.
A transcendent experience.

South Bend, IN. Home of the Studebaker Museum, Notre Dame, and Big John - who I meant to lookup but lost his contact info.
Studebaker started out building wagons in the early 19th century and built their last car in the mid 1960’s. They made a lot of innovative stuff but were never able to compete with the big 3.
Probably the car they are best known for:
They merged with Packard toward the end of their run and produced a number of strange cars that enthusiasts immediately labeled “Packardbakers.” No Packardbakers on display but they do have this Packard “Predictor”. Wild looking concept from 1957 - reminds me most of a 1965 Ford Thunderbird.

Last stop the Basilica at Notre Dame -one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. We had hoped to get a tour of the inside but forgot it was Sunday and they weren’t offering tours. Snapped this one picture of the sanctuary and moved outside.
Beautiful sunny day. The buildings are beautifully designed and well maintained. The Basilica:

High point was Mt. Rushmore. Low point was 1.5 hours in traffic trying to get through Chicago - on a Saturday!
