Mirror man was an iconic street character in the 60s and 70s in SF who would sit on the sidewalk all day with two mirrors aimed toward each other and try to look into it just right to see infinity.

@jon-nyc 'Mirror Man" was also a Capt. Beefheart song title. Maybe a reference to this character?

I can't figure out how we got from Unagi to Lumbago, but it's cracking me up! 😄

For a while now, I have felt we might benefit from a meta-thread about the Word association thread... Some might not agree though. Maybe the word association thread is like the Fight Club..... The first rule of Fight Club is...

But sometimes y'all are so funny, I laugh out loud. And loudly!

                (looking at you @dougg ...

So maybe I'm breaking a taboo with this thread, but I couldn't help it....

So I make a post to the word association thread, and the first phrase WTG thinks of is “dim wit”.

unfortunately, I’m not smart enough to figure out if I should be offended…

dang it. I don’t think there are any words that any of us could possibly think of that rhyme with “shucks.”

My autocorrect is always suggesting ‘ducks’ but I don’t know if that’s actually a word.

Great, now Jon’s last post expects me to come up with a rhyme for “lits”.

@dougg it doesn't have to rhyme (I know you know that... 😄

More importantly, I didn't know the term wagon lit.

                                          Dakota - Dad

                                          Immediate but obscure association...
One of very few WW2 experiences my Dad ever spoke about. He was RAF regiment airfield gunner, and volunteered to 'accompany a package' (wouldn't say what).
So he sat in the back of a Dakota for hours, flew north across India to the Himalayan foothills. And back south again. It would have been in 1944 before we retook into Burma.
You could see in his face him recalling the journey and amazing views of the mountains.
I wonder now if the package was China-related, possibly human.
