@wtg wow that’s distressing.
In addition to AI training as the “bridge job” for them, I noticed the connection with health concerns that they had (the woman whose employment gap was partly caused by breast cancer, the man whose wife cares full time for their disabled son, the woman whose long covid forced her to quit her initial job).
Also, there but for the grace….

In this endless push to create more cost-effective efficiency, (replace human workers) I wonder in the future vision for society HOW people are expected to survive and be parts of society? I know in the science-fiction world, it was often written that people wouldn't NEED to work anymore yet still had an active part and the means to follow their dreams. I'm not seeing much of that being discussed for our future..

Aside from being contrary to the natural order of things, that Sci-fi future was always predicated on an endless supply of material goods and energy. We're nowhere near that.
