Researchers at Stanford Medicine report that blocking a protein linked to aging can restore cartilage that naturally wears away in the knees of older mice. In the study, the injectable treatment not only rebuilt cartilage but also stopped arthritis from developing after knee injuries similar to ACL tears, which are common among athletes and active adults. A pill-based version of the same therapy is already being tested in clinical trials aimed at treating muscle weakness associated with aging.

@wtg oh wow, that does sound promising! I wonder how long it will take to get from this point in the research to where the product will be available for general medical treatment. I have osteoarthritis in both knees (worse in right) and in my thumbs, in addition to my ongoing feet problems, esp. Achilles tendonopathy, which is related to loss of collagen in the tendon. So it sounds like this could be relevant for all of those issues, and you would think that a pill-form treatment would have more global impact rather than being localized to knees only (for example).

IOW, I hope they hurry. πŸ˜…

                Hooray, and hurry!
"They" say you have to keep moving if so, but I don't see how when they are that painful.

Having aspiration and cortisone but I'm still incapacitated.

What's more my foot, and hip are going too - all on the left side. I'm sure much of it is because of complications from my major spinal fusion. Center of gravity has gone kablooey.

Resistance training three times a week will go much farther than waiting for a pill.
