    I have the collapsible shrinking ones. The first one developed a leak near the spigot end, too tough for me to fix. The replacement is working great, and I am in the habit of bringing it indoors after draining it.

      I've had the funky green Flexzilla hoses for probably 20 years now. Durable, very flexible, and not too heavy, though certainly not as light as the collapsible ones. Doesn't tend to kink, or if it does, it's easy to straighten out.

      I finally broke down and bought the Suncast hose reel boxes when they went on super clouseout at Costco last year.

      I thought about the collapsible hoses, but the ones my friends have tried seem to last only a season or two before they give up the ghost. And one guy said a plumber told him that if you don't shut off the faucet and leave the pressure on, the stuff inside the hose that makes it shrink creates additional back pressure and your faucet may develop leaks. I don't know if that's bogus or not.

        My 20 year old hose reel cart just died. (I bought a new hose last year, so I’m not willing to replace that again yet.) I think I need another hose reel. The Suncast Box is nice, but the faucet is in my back yard, behind a gate. I don’t want to leave a hose reel box on the outside of that gate, so a cart that can go in and out is ideal. Or another spigot in the front yard, but that’s not going to happen.

        Fred Meyer/Kroger only has the boxes. Now I have to hunt down a reel cart. Blergh.

          I have two high quality rubber hoses wound in to Suncast boxes I’m about to donate.

          Any takers?

            @wtg

            Get the Hydrotech hoses and keep the receipt. They’ll send you a new one every year if they fail.

              @Steve-Miller

              I know about the warranty, but I would feel badly about pitching more stuff into a landfill.

              Besides, I like my funky green Flexzillas. They're kinda quirky, like me.

                I am in love with the stainless steel hose I installed last year. Never ever kinks or leaks, lightweight and rolls up like a dream.

                Thanks for the recommendation. I need a new hose ..... always kinked.

                      @Mik you'll have to do your own googling for that! 😄
