Relentless heat

97 "Today will be one of the hottest days in 24 years."
I decided to stay in the house today to avoid UV. I feel like I'm being baked alive. I have vertigo. It's hard to stand up or move around.
96 (or 7) for the third day tomorrow and then we should get a break if you can call 94 a break.
-
93 expected here today, even hotter the next two days. I was hoping to go ride my bike but it’s just so hot. Maybe after 5pm.

95 today. Forecast 93 tomorrow.
People always ask me how I do it.
Go to somewhere with air-conditioning. Easier said than done in this weather without a car.
Go swimming. Your skin will get too much sun and be bathed in chlorine. But it's refreshing and you get exercise.
Try to open every window and door. Controlling air flow including taking into account heat rises was the way people lived in Florida before air-conditioning.
Let your clothes absorb your endless sweating especially shirts.
Wash your clothes and bedding by hanging it on racks, pouring soap on it, and hosing it down, strategically once a day in the evening. The HOA is not amused, but for once I don't care.
And the number 1 way to stay cool is cold showers. I miss hot water for breaking up grease when doing dishes but at this point showering in cold water doesn't phase me.
Let's see if Mother Nature can stop at 93.

I heard that keeping windows closed and shades drawn can keep your house cooler than when they are open. Blackout shades even better. Less heat gets in. Haven’t objectively tested this.

It looks like 98 was the worst. It's around 92 to 93 lately.
There's been little rain. The winds have been light for weeks. There are times when there is no wind.
It's been brutal.
I've looked at yearly temperature charts and don't see how August could be worse.
We could use a tropical storm to lower the temperatures as well bring us some much needed rain and wind.
