Try cooking with no electricity, no range, no refrigerator, and no freezer... for a year. It's a small miracle I'm still alive.
I'm looking forward to doing intensive experimentation with shopping, cooking, and my diet, the universe willing, soon.
I had a random bite on my legs after tuning in an area that had cicada swarms. I though a mosquito got me...
Now I have a few more up around my shoulders. Mom confirms the mites are nasty in her neighborhood, where I stop by once a week... At least I know what they are!
Way itchy...
I made this muesli and we both love it. Didn't have any coconut oil, so I left that out. And I added dried apricots.

Toasting the oats and pecans enhances their flavor a lot.
And that folks, is a microcosm of what's going on in our world. Misinformation repeated through YouTube and so many of other sites gets people to believe and repeat things that are easy enough to research and correct, but by the time the fact checking happens, the damage is already done.
Just ran into this the other day when out for a happy hour and someone was repeating about the Oregon firetrucks getting turned back from helping fight the California fires. Looked it up later and sure enough, false.
AO Smith. That’s the brand almost all the local contractors are installing, and based on googling around, I’m resigned to the fact that they’re all probably crap anyway
An alleged Iranian connection was pushed by Netenyahu when he gave his speech to Congress. I'm 99% sure but I could be wrong. I'll post the quote or tape if I can find it.
Thanks, wtg. Moving on to thread #2.
@pique said in Question about leasing vs buying a car:
We just sold our 2006 Honda CRV with 200k miles on it. The reason we sold it is because I found the seats to be absolutely crippling. That became my #1 criteria in car shopping--the comfort and support of the seats.
Same here. Hondas are great cars in many respects but the seats are like sitting on flat boards. The five hour drive up to Door County in my Mom's Accord used to leave my back in bad shape. Plus in my case, there's not enough thigh support; I'm 5'10".
Toyota and Subaru seats, OTOH, are very comfy for me.
I heard Hegseth say that he talked to The Boss yesterday, and that he was told to hang on and keep fighting.
Meanwhile, a great example of one-way loyalty....
President-elect Trump isn't working the phones for Pete Hegseth in his hour of need, leaving the embattled Department of Defense nominee to press his own case to skeptical senators, Axios has learned.
"I don't think it's going anywhere," one senator told Axios about Hegseth's nomination chances.
Why it matters: Trump is on path to lose his third nominee in two weeks, and this time he's leaving his candidate out to dry.

I hear DeSantis is under consideration for the job.
@Bernard said in Meet the coffee obsessives:
I can't find the coffee pot on their website. It comes up on Amazon from Denby USA but out of stock. I wonder if it's discontinued?
There seems to be a British version of Replacements LTD.

What an interesting thread. I feel like I've seen an upsurge in younger people knitting or crocheting in quiet times as they occur, but I like hearing about and seeing the work products in this community as well. It brings to mind the now-long-running sourdough thread.

Al Jazeera and George Galloway may be amusing or annoying to watch, either way they are the worst for agendas.
I see there was a companion item, the Super Awful Awful burger. Two half pound patties instead of just one.

Every now and then I put my silver (the stuff I put in the dishwasher) into an aluminum foil lined sink, dump some salt and baking soda on it, and then pour a kettle of boiling water on it. It removes most of the tarnish.
