I think he understands that the likelihood of winning is well below 50/50 now, and it's not worth his effort. NC often elects Democrats to statewide office, even though its heavily gerrymandered legislature grants a Republican about 1.2 times as much representation as a Democrat. And 2026 is shaping up to be a wave year given how unpopular the Big Bill is, and how its effects will likely be very visible next year as millions are thrown off Medicaid and rural voters piss and moan about their reduced subsidies (from blue urban taxpayers).

This is going to end up inspiring, maybe even be the scenes of, horror movies.

The new safety features cars have are a minor miracle. I doubt the lives they've saved and injuries they've prevented can be counted.

There will be lots of firings in January of 2029, presuming a Democrat wins. Civil Service protections are out, and they shouldn't go back in until the damage has been remediated. Then the GOP may be willing to sign a treaty that can prevent the re-politicization of federal employment.

Jennifer Rubin did a good video with Norm Eisen and Katie Phang this afternoon to explain. I highly recommend it. The idea that any of those lands will make anybody a dime on timber is laughable. It's a federal boondoggle and will cost taxpayers a ton. Google my piece "The Mismanagement of the National Forests"

@wtg That’s a great story. I’ve read in many places that dementia patients can sometimes sing, even when they can’t talk. The power of music lies so deeply in memory. My MIL is in memory care; they have music therapy/singalong on a regular basis. I don’t know if Mom sings or not, but she seems to enjoy it. I’m planning to go with a small group to sing at a congregation member’s memory care facility in a couple weeks. We’re practicing next week, going the following week. I restrung my guitar in anticipation of this and one other gig in July. (I’m a very rudimentary player; guitar is just meant to keep me singing in key!)
