Oh wow!! I would love to attend a concert there! I wonder how it is (acoustically) for the performers. Especially for those used to playing in big halls, it must be such a special experience.
When my new tuner was here last time, he talked about my piano and how good the size and placement is for this space. When we moved here, I was only focusing on how the piano room is super small but that’s mitigated by the way it opens to the hall and living room area. So I thought that’s why it would sound ok. He said that’s not why, the bigger reason is because the living room has a vaulted ceiling, so the floor and ceiling are not parallel. He had me go stand in the living room while he played my piano, which of course was the first time I had heard my piano being played by someone else in this house.
And indeed, it sounded really good! Much better than I expected.
In all my years of being on PW, I don’t think I ever read about that, the problem of having floor and ceiling parallel.
Of course, most of the time, you can’t do anything about it if your piano space has parallel floor and ceiling, and most people probably don’t want to hang acoustic panels from the ceiling in their living room!
Anyway thanks for sharing the article! I wish we had a space like that here!

I wonder how many people the hall seats for chamber music performances?
I've attended many concerts in smaller venues and find them very appealing, although not every smaller space is optimized for music as this hall seems to be. We subscribe to a series of jazz concerts each year in the Manchester Craftsmen's Guild concert hall that seats about 400. It's a venue that was built to suit jazz ensembles and suits its purpose very well.
