I like this one.
Knobs not dials (trivial but still)
Manual option for water height
Setting to lock lid only during spin cycle

Before we moved here, we bought a new set of LG washer and dryer that we liked. I think it was 2019, so the models are different now of course.
If you’re shopping at HD, I would probably focus on LG or GE.

From above
Hotpoint = GE
I like the orange letters used for the brand. Very trivial but still
I'm easy to please at this point.
The problem will be they won't haul away a washer with water and mine has about 4".
Maybe I'll buy a Shop Vac.

Towels, dude. Towels and a bucket.
It’ll take you like 10 minutes.

The water has been standing for six months in Sub-Tropical Florida.
It's bio-hazard wastewater.
I can't really do that and put the towels in my dryer.

Don't buy Samsung. Horrible customer service for repairs. A lot of shops won't do warranty work on Samsung because the company is a total pain to work with.

Go spend a night or two in a hotel and steal their towels.

I could put something solid and absorbent in it, but then I'd just have get that out of it. They'll certainly just look inside and want want so see nothing.
I bought bleach to replace the small bottle that was left here. I was all set to add bleach (much too late anyway because I had put take over the washer lid and stopped thinking about it but I was going to do it).
Then my shower assembly came apart and I put it off. I needed 3 towels to take a shower, very myself, and mop up the floor and dry the back of the bathroom door before I repaired my ceiling and replaced the part. This episode lasted 4vdays before I could fix it.
The 3 towels had to be put in a bucket and wrung out by hand, then sprayed with one of my homemade rubbing alcohol and water spray bottles, and then dried in the dryer, and the metal fan had to be run on the highest setting for a couple hours.
Every time . It was exhausting
Kudos to me for fixing it. If you knew you would know I'm not handy. I'm what I call "not mechanically inclined" (I think this term went out of fashion years ago but I don't care).
I've figured out a plan to fix and have fixed 100 things by now.
I mean there came a point when it became necessary to develop skills.
So I didn't get to the bleach.
But I do have enough bleach now to last a long time.
I love my towels not that they're anything special. I can't wait until I can wash them all properly..
I have to wash 1 or 2 at a time depending on the size, by hand in the sink and let them dry all day on the porch before I can put them in the dryer.Exhausting.
All my other clothes are washed by hand. I refuse to wash and burn other people's chemicals and dirt into my clothes, towels, and bedding. Hard no.
I could go to Salvation Army in theory. Thrifting isn't my thing (nothing against, I just hate shopping in any store for anything).
jon, I think you have the best idea. Stay in a hotel, steal their towels, replace my towels with nice ones, and keep my towels for utilitarian purposes. Hahaha!
I'll figure it out.
I'm supposed to make a Walmart wish list anyway. Hopefully Christmas will come early.
I still need a lot for the house, mainly the kitchen, but curtains, lamps outside lighting, better tools than Hyper Tough brand (my father had Klein tools back in the day- these to are garbage), more house supplies, etc. I'm getting a new phone. No more waiting on that front.
I'll post my choice for you all's opinions. I'm not going to put a 1k phone one my wish list unfortunately for the same reason I'm getting a $500 washer.
Don't get me wrong. The $500 washer looks like an oasis in the desert to me at this point.

@wtg Have been told the same about Samsung. Have a Samsung TV. It is underwhelming. Bob got one from LG. Much better.
@CHAS We've had good luck with Samsung TVs and phones. Our large TV is quite old and when I've looked at the TVs on display at Costco (where we buy this kind of stuff), I do like the picture on the LGs. When any of our TVs dies, I'll definitely consider an LG as a replacement.
