You haven't articulated and neither have you demonstrated any "radical" position(s) you allege the DSA (let's call a spade a spade") members hold let alone demonstrated that the same are out of the "mainstream."

The mainstream is in opposition to what the government is doing in the US and in the world.

This opposition WAS the reason for this blue wave/ tsunami.

He will be remembered as one of the most corrupt politicians in American history. His illegal and illegitimate denial of a vote for or against Obama's last Supreme Court nominee will attach ignominy to his name forever, not that any of his other conduct is deserving of an once of respect.

      But he is comedy gold.

Imagine for a minute you were Mitch McConnell’s son or daughter.

Or even a lucid Mitch of age, say, 55.

In other words, imagine you cared about him and his reputation and legacy.

Would you rather he end his service this way? Or retiring respectfully a decade earlier?

Again, if you can imagine some empathy for him, it’s actually sad he and his advisors chose this course.

Someone I know, talking about when the right time to retire is, put it this way ‘leave when you’re an elder, not when you’re elderly’.

I think it’s great advice. I’m dealing with some of the latter right now in my foundation.

@jon-nyc I think you need a blue background for this graphic.

I can agree with all of it completely without the need to conjour empathy for a psychopath.

It’s all about power. Hanging on to power. And if you can’t manage it yourself, your party is there to do it for you, in your name. Ick.

I see it in people who aren’t psychopaths or particularly powerful. But they have trouble accepting that their days of contributing are over. Often, especially with aging academics, it’s part of their identity and they don’t know what they’d be without the role.

I think that might be part of the story with Biden, Grassley, McConnell, and so many more. But with them you have the added complication of a consort of senior staff who aren’t ready to retire but would lose their position if the top guy goes.

One illustrative quote from the Jake Tapper book on the Biden administration was in reference to his senior advisors: “They’re living the first line of their obituary right now.” Of course they will resist giving it up. I think that explains why fake polling data was shown to Joe convincing him that he and only he could beat Trump. They needed him to run again so they could keep their influence.

The elderly are vulnerable like the young are vulnerable. Just a fact of life. These politicians have their own reasons for hanging on to their positions. I don't doubt it. But I think we've all seen these politicians in a bad way in Congress with it in session and people whispering in their ear lines for them to repeat.

Yes. Chuck Schumer (and Jeffries) should resign from leadership, or not get the votes.

These two are 100% out of touch with the mainstream of American voters.
