The world has lost a shining example of talent, goodness, and generosity. Rest in peace and power, Dolly.

She was already legendary in the early ’70’s; she was a great entertainer; she was humble; and, she meant a lot to the people who identified with her, for all kinds of reasons. Rest in peace.

She was wonderful. One of my friends posted on a Facebook a photo of her (my friend’s) child surrounded by books they had gotten from Dolly Parton’s library.

There have not been many public figures in our society who were so universally respected and admired. Truly a remarkable person.

I've read multiple remembrances and tributes in various online locations since the news of her death was announced. What most struck me was the nearly total absence of any negative comments in all those places. It seems that almost everyone loved her.
