I didn’t know that! It’s a little hard to tell from the video here, which seems like the aspect ratio is off.

You’re right it could be just the aspect ratio. They almost look too short and pudgy to be real, given some of the stuff I’ve heard him play (even bits and bobs during humor sketches).
