    The venerable Story and Clark spinet needs to be moved to the new place. Yeah, I know.

    But here we are. Who do I call?

      I always tell folks to call around to a few local churches and schools. You will likely find 1 or 2 names that get mentioned most often. Then check with the techs for local moving people.

      Someone put together this listing - searchable by zip.

        @steve-miller an upright doesn’t need as much expertise as a grand because it doesn’t have to be taken apart. It is of course poorly balanced and so needs professional movers, but, at the risk of being blasphemous, in my opinion, an average upright that’s not unusually valuable doesn’t necessarily need professional piano movers. A lot of steps or other considerations (e.g., tight turns) might change that though.

        Professional moving companies may have specific piano details (and fee schedules) on their web sites, so you might start there. And then compare the prices between piano movers and regular movers.

        When I had my Petrof upright moved by a regular moving company, I talked to them about how they would move it, how it would be placed and secured in the truck, those kinds of questions, to ascertain that they knew what they were doing. I didn’t have any problems.

        I’ve always used professional piano lovers for my grand though.

          I’ve moved sprints and big old uprights myself more than once but I’m not sure I want to try that now. There are some steps involved at both ends of the move.

          But a mover might be a better choice than a piano mover for the little spinet. I’ll look in to that.

          Thanks!

            @Rontuner

            That site turned up three names.

            Thanks!

              I don't know about moving, but my niece is an experienced tech. She's on the south side of Cleveland.
