I've seen the winner in the grocery store but haven't tried it. Looked up the ingredients that are in it and....real food! Italian Tomatoes, Onions, Olive Oil,, Sea Salt, Basil, Garlic, Oregano

We're mostly a Rao's household but I'll check out Carbone.

@wtg said in Marinara sauce taste test:

      Onions

Shoot. I can't do onions, and neither can my mother.

We usually get Rao's, my favorite is to mix one jar of "sensitive" and one jar of "roasted garlic." Neither of those have onions.

I ended up not trying Mezzetta, which you posted about in the past, because it has onions too.

I'm quite happy with Rao's, it's just pricey (even on sale).

We buy Rao’s now and then, but because it’s so easy to make a garlic-and-oil sauce with parsley, and grate some Parmesan, I do that 95% of the time. Fresh is always best.

In the warmer months, when we can get real tomatoes, I’ll make a marinara from scratch. Somehow the jarred sauces seem meh. Some of the Italian specialty stores in NYC make their own, and those can be worthwhile.

Rao’s, Mezzetta and Carbone. Mezzetta is the best price. Very fresh tomato flavor.

I can't remember the last time I purchased Marinara. When I make mine I like to add a bit of fennel seeds.
