Piano recording
-
I made a recording of my piano in its new space. I just used my cellphone sitting on top of the music desk so there's nothing to look at. And if sounds absolutely horrible on my laptop speakers, but it sounds pretty good on my headphones.
So with that disclaimer, please listen if you're interested.

Nice! Thanks for sharing - especially after the tuning issues in the past...

Thanks Ron! I think it sounds great! (The cell phone recording isn’t the best representation). I’m so relieved to have found this tuner!

Very nice! Glad everything has worked out with the piano....

@wtg thank you!!

Well played. I like the sound. Thank you, I wanted to hear your piano in that room.

Thanks for listening and for the nice compliment @CHAS

@ShiroKuro I listened to your recording on my laptop and then noting your advice, turned on a Bluetooth speaker which enhanced the sound quite a bit. Very nicely played.
I did notice one thing that I was curious about. The sound seemed to be sustained for a long time at the end of some phrases. I couldn't tell what was the influence of the sustain pedal and the resonance of the piano itself, what reverberation in the room might be contributing, and perhaps also the tendency of cell phones to try to maintain a constant level as the sound varies. Any ideas?

All of the above??
Joking aside, I imagine part of it has to do with the cellphone recording, what you mentioned and also the fact that I set the cellphone on top of the music desk, treble side, which is surely not a good place for it!
But another big detail is that Einaudi is very much expected to be played with heavy pedaling, and that's how I play it.
Lastly, there were probably times when I was over fermata-ing to cover up for one thing or another. Like trying to keep my concentration, or one part where my bluetooth foot pedal didn't turn and I had to turn the page (on my iPad) with my hand (which I never do anymore and so it slowed me down).
So yeah, that's probably all of what you were hearing... That and just general mediocrity.
