Who’s decorating for the holidays?
-
I used to decorate the house, both the exterior with lights and the interior with Christmas tchotchkes and a tree. The outdoor lights went by the wayside decades ago and I’ve gone back and forth over the last few years, sometimes decorating inside and sometimes not.
This year I thought I would start on December 1st and put out at least one bit of decoration each day. So I got the tacky glittery tabletop Christmas tree out and put it in the living room. Mom’s little artificial door swag is on the front door, and what used to be a front door wreath has gotten a new life as an oversized candle ring on the coffee table. Pics later.
How is your Christmas decorating spirit this year?

Who’s decorating for the holidays?
We are!! I can share pics later as well. (Although it looks mostly the same as last year)
Mr SK put our two trees up before thanksgiving. And then I got them decorated over a period of a few days (since I’m less mobile than normal I spread it out a bit more).
We have a wreath on the front door and I’m hoping to add wreaths on the garage door carriage lights.
But no big yard lights. That’s the one thing I haven’t figured out yet. The lights of it, I mean. I love outdoor lights though so I would love to have some …

Full on decorating mood here. I find it a great way to brighten up the shorter and shorter days. We should have more big festivals.
Both trees are up and now decorated (living room and dining room). I decided not to put up the silver tree in the kitchen this year. After 5 or 6 years in the kitchen for the season it has picked up a greased dusty look. So I put a 3' holiday topiary on the kitchen work table. The village is displayed in the book shelf again as I really enojoyed it last year. The santa collection sit atop one of the antique sewing machines. A swag over my desk. And a few bits and bobs here and there. Pics to come.

Bob has a Kiva fireplace with a very high mantle. I suppose I should dust the things up there when I feel better. There is a typical nutcracker, a black santa with a red and white santa hat and a red and green plaid suit. There is some plastic evergreen stuff and Xmas cards from last year. Two christmas tree ornaments are near the black santa.
Bob quit putting his tree up because a cat tree has been in that space since Don died and the cat has been migrating with us.
That is symbolic of our attitude toward Xmas. We will probably go the La Hacienda for Xmas dinner again, but it has become too crowded. Maybe Chinese.
