Help me think about how to decorate my piano room

On another note, I love this guy. Tell me more about him!

The Divan. This one is only $20K on Wayfair, of all places.

I love a good fainting couch!
The blue chairs are the right idea, but not sure I love the blue.
The round back chair with the metal rectangular legs looks fabulous, but I don’t think the back would be very comfortable.

@Steve-Miller (the link you posted in your second post is of a very ornate bed)
Back to the chairs...they're cute chairs. Size seems good, they don't overwhelm the space. The blue looks almost black in the photos, so I'm guessing they work with everything else. Generally I like the way they look, though I'm a fan of chairs with arms myself.
The table between the chairs (not that you asked)....hmmm...it seems more like a plant stand, tall and with a very small footprint. I think I'd be looking for something lower and a bit bigger. Looks like there is plenty of space between the chairs.
Try the role-playing experiment and bring a small plate of food and a beverage in there. Times two (one for each person who would sit there). And see if it feels right.

I don't like the blue much at all. It doesn't seem to hamonize with anything else in the room.

Perhaps something a bit more lighthearted.
The hot dog sofa! Only &8K!

Thanks everyone for all the comments, I really appreciate them!!!
@Steve-Miller I love the fainting couch! If only there was room!!
Ugh, I cannot decide about these chairs... They are super comfy, I love the shape and the size, Although I get @wtg 's concern that there aren't armrests, because of that, they take up less space, which works well. And I love the blue, it looks great with the wall art and the red chair, and the piano... but yeah, I'm not sure they go with the rug...
I think Mr. SK will not be happy if I want to return these though....
Lemme look online... there are very few black velvet chairs, and there are some where the rivets are so shiny, or more insistent, which I don't like...
-
BTW even if I take these back, I don't think I'll get the chairs that Lisa recommended. Although I really like them, having seen how these look in here, I think this is better shape, given the space limitations.
-
May I suggest that you wait until you find chairs that “speak to you”?
-
@Steve-Miller that's probably good advice, but I'm not good at waiting.
If they had these exact chairs in black, I would have gotten black. But they didn't have them, and I'm not finding any like them online (or in stores) and the ones in black I find, I don't like something about them. Or they're three times as expensive...
Also, Mr. SK likes these, and I actually really like them. I just feel like I shouldn't like them, because in theory, they don't match the carpet. But I really like the color, even if I feel like I'm not supposed to. Oh, and they're super comfy to sit on, which isn't a given, as I discovered from sitting on one billion chairs today before buying these. That makes me nervous about ordering something online.
Anyway, I'll see what I think in the morning...

Lisa, this is an "ushioni" bull demon from Japan that protects our house.
-
Ok found blacker velvet chairs, almost the same, at Wayfair.
I can’t decide if I want to switch of not. I live this blue color, and Mr SK is worried the Wayfair chairs won’t be as comfy.
-
Here are some pictures from this morning, I think you can really see the true color in the light.

Wow - the Wiki page for ushioni makes them sound terrifying: "Ushi-oni have brutal, savage personalites. Their appearance varies, mainly based on geographical location. They usually have an ox's head with sharp upward-curving horns, wicked fangs and a slender tongue. They spit poison and enjoy killing and eating humans. Their body is most commonly depicted as spider-like with six legs and long singular claws at the end of each appendage."
I think yours is kind of cute though! I'm glad he's looking out for you!

I think the blue looks great with the artwork, not so much with the rug, but again, things look different in person vs photos and if you and Mr. SK like it that's all that matters. There is a lot to be said for comfort too, and you don't get to judge that when you order online.
I do think that as someone (I think WTG?) said above, a lower, wider table might work better - I feel like that might be an awkward height to reach to put a drink down, vs. something that is more like seat height. But that's an easy fix if you want to change it and the current table can easily be used as a plant stand or table pretty much anywhere.
A wider table would also give you room for something decorative on that table - a plant or maybe even a super pretty statement lamp if you want.
Also, a table that's a little closer to the width of the circles art would give nice symmetry and connect the whole chair arrangment to the art above it.

@Lisa the ushioni in Mr SK’s hometown are like the one in the photo (that’s a noren we’re using as a wall hanging), and people believe the protect the town. At festival time, there are ushioni “floats” ( for lack of a better word) and they get carried around the neighborhood. When they come to you door, the head bows and blesses your house. and then you’re supposed to give them money, which I didn’t know before I got married! Oops!
Re the table, yeah, I think I’m going to get a different one. You can see the tag on this one, I haven’t decided if I’ll return it or not.
And agree, lower for the table.
Re the chairs, still agonizing.
-
I wonder if a stained glass lamp that connects all the colors in the rug to the blue of the chairs would look good on the table, or if it would compete too much with the circles art above it. I was thinking something like these -- my sister has lamps like this all over her house and they give off the prettiest moody glow at night!
I kinda like the craftsman-style ones because they mimic the lines in the rug but bring in the color blue to connect the chairs -- just not sure how they'll look under the circles.....
-
oooh, I love that first one!!
This room now has more physical objects in it than any other room in the house!
-
I like the blue chairs with the artwork, but not sure about with the rug. But if the legs of the blue chairs are black, they might be enough tie-in with the black lines on the rug. You say that both you and Mr. SK like the chairs, and they’re comfortable. That sounds like a win! When people are sitting on them, they won’t look at them. And they’ll be paying more attention to the piano and the artwork than thinking about chairs, anyway.
-
Thanks AdagioM! The chair legs are indeed black.
I dunno, I think they're fine with the rug.
That's probably because I keep looking at it and I'm getting desensitized. The big thing is as you say, they are super comfy and we really like them.
I'm probably going to keep them.
Not the table though (i.e., plant stand). Or at least, I'm going to find a different post for it.
I think I need a lower, rectangular one. I thought about round one, but the thing about round tables is they never hold as much as you think they should.
Could something like this work?
