MrsTuner is in for a reverse total shoulder replacement. Procedure should take a couple of hours. I didn't even know it was a thing until recently! https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/treatment-tests-and-therapies/reverse-total-shoulder-replacement

I don't know much about shoulder surgeries, except for one friend who had work done on his but didn't have any kind of replacement. He rented the machine that exercises the joint so he could do more focused therapy at home. It worked out really well for him.
Best wishes to MrsTuner! Does her surgery require an overnight hospital stay, or will she be home today?

Went to a surgeon for a replacement. He said he could fix the shoulder instead.
He could not fix and said so. I do therapy and get by.Hope she enjoys the shoulder. That may take a while.

It is her right (dominant) side, so that will present some challenges! They used a nerve block, so no pain, but also hardly any movement on that arm yet - just numb. I think that bothers her more than pain...

Oh dear, that will probably be frustrating for a while!

How is the patient doing?

The block has worn off so she is feeling sore and achy. Keeping it cool almost 24 hours with an Iceman. Good to have use of her arm/hand again. Just hanging out today - maybe get out for a short walk tomorrow? Ok to take off the sling inside, but supposed to wear it when going out. Followup visit in a couple of weeks before starting PT.

Hope she is better.
Had a spinal block for and ankle break in 1991. I could take to hops to a bathroom to pee. The first time my hand could feel myself, but myself could not feel my hand. That was scary.
