I can't see how any of this ends well.... for any of us.... there are so many "EOs" flying, there's no way legal initiates can block even a quarter of them. "going through the proper channels" is too slow...

Also, they really need to stop making these announcements at night and on weekends.... I mean, it's strategic, I know. And it's working. I feel like half the population of the US is having rolling blood pressure strikes....

I am going to have force myself to disconnect, at night at least.

I'm gonna go try to play the piano and see if I can calm myself down.

Btw a friend on FB reminds me, this was all in Project 2025.
      We shouldn’t be surprised.

But the DoE has work to do before then.

The way they are deciding who to fire is crazy.

My section of DOJ hires 1 or 2 law school graduates each year. Otherwise, you have to have at least four years of experience to be hired at all. The people we hire are crazy good because there is so much competition.

If they fire our probationary attorneys (those who have been on the job for less than 2 years), we will literally be firing the best and the brightest. This might include a person who hits 2 years on Feb. 27 and who is a rock star.

If you want to improve the federal workforce, why not do it on merit?

And why do they have to be so joyful and incredibly mean about it, taunting people in the worst moment of their career?

Improving the federal workforce was never the goal. P2025 is very clear on that point.

The goal is to make it cheaper.

The longer we sit on our hands waiting to see if someone or something--like conventional legal levers--are going to put a stop to this, the sooner everything will collapse. Because this has been 70 years in the making, and now that the oligarchy has their hands on the government, they are not going to let go. There won't be fair elections. There won't be obedience to court orders. We need to stop thinking within the established paradigm and recognize that we have to take our country back and get rid of these people by any means necessary. That I say this doesn't mean I have any answers. But I do know that waiting and seeing isn't it. I fear we are on the precipice of all dissonant voices being shut down. While we can still see what is happening, we need to act.

The best I can come up with is a nationwide general strike. Anyone else have any ideas?

Some interesting discussion going on at Bluesky with Mark Cuban. He's trying to get Democrats to change strategies. Some great ideas, I think.

But maybe not quite exactly what you had in mind. You're probably looking for something more targeted to the average American who feels the country slipping away. I have had some thoughts about that, but they aren't repeatable.

I'll try to work on something more productive.

@Mark No kidding. @CHAS posted an article in the thread I started about this very topic. From his link:

Members of Congress made their concerns about the NNSA firings known to the Energy Department, a Hill staffer told CNN. A person with knowledge of the matter told CNN that senators visited Energy Sec. Chris Wright to express concern about the NNSA cuts.

My dad used to work at Argonne National Lab, and for a number of years he was on loan to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. That agency keeps an eye on nuclear reactors and other civilian nuclear uses. He took his job very seriously. He'd be appalled to hear this is happening on the military side of the nuclear equation.

I used to scream at the top of my lungs that we should not be ratcheting up the power of the executive branch.

However, I never thought it would get this bad.

A bootlicking legislative and judiciary is part of the current situation.

A perfect storm that seemingly has the ability to destroy this country.
