Musk's reach
-
After Musk purchased Twitter in 2022 and renamed it X, the site transformed. The billionaire cut the bulk of X’s trust and safety team and replaced professional fact-checking with crowdsourced “Community Notes.” As Musk’s account has swelled to 217 million followers, he has the loudest online megaphone in U.S. politics — a megaphone further amplified by algorithms tuned to prioritize his content in people’s feeds, said Joan Donovan, assistant professor of journalism at Boston University.
Musk’s posts serve as “merely a trigger mechanism” to his followers, Donovan said, often prompting them to scour social media profiles, look up information about a target’s family members, launch cyberattacks, lodge fake complaints with their employer, or flood people with texts and phone calls throughout the night.

I don't know. Trump has no tech chops and doesn't have a clue what Musk is capable of. Maybe it's Musk that's driving the bus and Trump is just the useful idiot who thinks he's in charge.

Yeah, I have also been thinking that Musk is the one in charge...
Either that or they're both puppets, in which case, who is the puppet master?
Watching this American dumpster fire, I'm starting to understand how people get wrapped up in crazy conspiracy theories!

There was a story I read from someone that worked with 47 in the past who wrote that you never know what his plans are because of the chaos created. He is happy to break any deal and wait until his grift is complete.
I'm sure he has something in mind, if only to cause harm to those that he feels 'dissed' him in the past. (Most of America)
I think Musk, Kennedy, Vance and others are passionate about their beliefs and have been set free to create havoc on the world...

I am wondering about the possible long term financial gain for Trump. The sovereign wealth fund and the "we own Gaza, redevelop it (without taxpayer money) and make it the Middle Eastern Riviera" shtick. He's going to find a way for those deals to benefit him in the long run, even after the presidency. The article I posted definitely points out how Musk can benefit.
Yea, grift is a good possibility. For both of them I'm also sure it's part of the power thing. And, as you point out, revenge. I'm absolutely certain neither gives a damn about the country. It's all about them.

Anybody read the piece in The Intercept? Have to give an email, but it's free.
This Is the Way to Stop Elon Musk
Senate Democrats have the power to block federal contracts to Tesla and SpaceX. It’s the path to pushing Musk out of politics.

Signal has recently become a popular organizing tool among government workers.

@Rontuner For starters, Musk and the gang getting access to everyone's personal information and access to all the government's computers means, in this day and age, they control everything. Why do words like blackmail and sabotage come to mind? Brought to us by our very own royal couple: Trump and Musk.
