Definitely a First World issue

Every time I eat McDonald's I regret it.
I ordered a 1/4 lb. w/ cheese, a plain sundae, and a large vanilla shake.
My theory (more like a rationalisation) was that I could use the calories.
I gave my code, then opened the bag (dumb).
I found both "ice cream" products and a small beef patty with cheese on it.
Is this a hard job?
The meat smelled rotten. I threw it away.
The "ice cream" triggered my lactose intolerant.
It's sort of an allergic reaction (it might actually be one).
I spent 20 minutes blowing my nose and coughing up mucus.
I get hungry at night and I order it. Nothing else that's open has a $.49 delivery fee and arrived in 20 minutes.
Nothing else that's open isn't garbage too.
I keep telling myself to stop pointing myself and paying a lot of money for the privilege.
It's a behavioral pattern.
I need to quit doing it.

So why did they name it "McRib"? R-i-b as in rib? False advertising. I never knew it wasn't rib because I'm not terribly interested in meat. I don't know where most cuts of meat come from. Like I said above, I've never been interested in having one and I thought it really was rib.
-
Anyone who really thought they were getting ribs is an idiot. All you have to do is look at the piece of meat. That shape of pork is not found anywhere in nature.
Even if you don't get that, anything that starts with"Mc" is not natural. that suit is a perfect candidate for my dismissal under my patented Dumbass Doctrine.

Yeah, I agree. It's a frivolous lawsuit.

Then there's this, in France. I bring you Croque McDo:

So here's the blurb on McD's website. Describes what it is, including ingredients.
The McRib starts with seasoned boneless pork dipped in a tangy BBQ sauce, topped with slivered onions and tangy pickles, all served on a toasted homestyle bun. When everything combines you have BBQ pork sandwich perfection. But its availability is limited—stay tuned at your local McDonald’s for when the McRib is available near you.
McRib Pork Patty
Ingredients: Pork, Water, Salt, Dextrose, Rosemary Extract.

Whether the designation "pork patty" includes pork rib meat or not, I still can't believe that someone would initiate a class action lawsuit over this.

Apparently it is pork.
Yeah, probably containing parts of the animal most people wouldn't be willing to eat if they were aware of what which parts they were eating, let alone how the animals were raised, let alone the unsanitary conditions in which they are slaughtered, let alone the different ways the meat is processed.
Man I need to draw a line in the sand.
I'm force feeding himself isolated protein. I made it to 20g yesterday. It should be 50- 70g or more (for me it should probably be 70+). I'm on my way to 40. My goal is to make it to 60g today.

@wtg I would note that, though all of us here happened to be relatively blessed, and not to get all serious about a topic in the mystery meat genre, but I don't think of this as a "1st world country." Mass poverty, mass dug addiction, mass food insecurity, mass homelessness, mass incarceration (to put it gently), mass poisoning of the food supply chain, 3rd rate "healthcare system," abridgent of the freedom of speech, abridgent of the entire First Amendment, abridgent of the Fourth Amendment, mass surveillance, and inflation moving at the speed of a runaway train are not giving me the impression of a "First World."
Just food (sic) for thought.

It's an RSS (rib-shaped sandwich).

"McRib" is just another in a long series of cute names that incorporate the "Mc" part of their name. Chicken McNuggets, McPlant (non-meat burger), McRice (Indonesia).

I have to admit I don't frequent fast food places, haven't for years. Last time I was at a McDonald's or Wendy's was in the late 1980s. Mr wtg used to like an occasional Whopper Jr and I went along to be sociable, but it's not my thing. Tried a Culver's fried walleye sandwich during COVID and was totally disappointed.

Best falafel anywhere....

@wtg My favorite fast food place is Wendy's but we don't have one nearby. When I go to Tilton--20 minutes down the highway--for the big box stores, there's one there.
Once-in-a-while I'll get a McDonald's 2 cheeseburger meal but not for the quality of the food, for nostalgic reasons. Fond memories attached to my first visit to a McDonald's when I was in high school.

@Bernard Does Wendy's still do the baked potato with chili? I used to get that. Or the salad bar, which back in the 80s was really good.
Totally get the not-great-food-but-very-fond-memories thing. My Dad and I used to go to this place.

The ice cream was served in cubes. Here's the scooper:
