Republicans who will be speaking at the DNC.
-
And according to NBC News, Stephanie Grisham — former press secretary to the Trump White House as well as former First Lady Melania Trump — will be speaking.
Wait, what????????????????
That's got to be a mistake???? Some hacked the article? Or it's a very unfortunate typo? (Sloppy copy and paste?) Her name only comes up once.
It's a mistake. It has to be.
-
She was press secretary to the White House and to Melania. Compound phrase.
I didn't read it the way you did because of the dashes around the phrase, but I can see it could be interpreted as Melania also speaking at the DNC. It's a bit sloppy.
-
OMG that's hysterical!!!!!!! That's what I get for reading on the fly! (for the record, I know how compound phrases work, I just can't read... evidently.
The funny thing is, rather than think I read it wrong, I did a quick word search to see if it was explained somewhere else in the article, and then immediately assumed there was a mistake in the article (rather than in my head!)
Probably projecting, because I am the queen of the typo and I get myself in trouble a lot when I C&P and don't check carefully (like when I'm updating a schedule from a previous semester and C&P more than I need from the other...)
-
“as well as to Melania” ?
-
The voice and video are out of sync tonight.
How hard is this?
Good grief.

PBS is fine here. Via YouTube TV

We love Joseph “Retirement” Biden!

@ShiroKuro said in DNC:
I just can't read... evidently.
It was ambiguous and, as AdagioM points out, the author could have avoided the ambiguity with better drafting.

-
Whoa. That's pretty direct.
-
Re Stephanie Grisham, I think it’s very brave of her!
Also I finally watched all of Michelle Obama’s remarks. ️️️
-
Pete is so impressive….
-
As is Tim Walz.

Today, in time honored Midwest tradition, I dropped off a pressure washer for repair at the local lawnmower/tractor/chainsaw repair place. It’s the carburetor. It’s always the carburetor. The guy behind the counter told me as much.
The guy behind the counter told me that, and then went on to discuss the DNC. I was surprised, actually - not many listen to such things around here. He’s a man of experience, my age exactly. All of my warning alarms went off - I’ve been here before. I don’t have these conversations here in Hooterville. There’s no percentage in it.
But he approached the subject very carefully - like he wasn’t sure what to think. He didn’t seem to want to get in to a political fight. Did I think any of them would really help the middle class? It’s been his experience that they all promise that but it never happens.
Fair question.
Dunno, says I. But they seem to want to. The candidates come from backgrounds like mine - maybe yours. Great speeches, didn’t you think? Sounds like they want to try. They’ve laid out a bunch of great ideas but maybe they can make them happen and maybe not. But maybe they’ll try. Maybe that’s the best we can hope for.
We.
No, I don’t think Social Security will disappear, and neither will Medicare. No, I don’t think what you’ve been told about working while on SS is correct and you really need to talk to a tax guy. Ditto the estate tax. I think you’re in a better position than you think you are. It’s my experience that the system works pretty well. I could be wrong but that’s my experience.
He seemed cool with that and hoped I was cool with their backlog - that it could be a week before they get to evaluating my machine. Yeah, that’s fine.
Hope he watched tonight. I think he’d like Walz. Hunt, fish, football - the very essence of the Ohio experience.
And I hope the parts are in stock.

Steve, you should write for the local paper!
