        Data Centers are the new landfills.
        Nobody wants to stop producing trash, and nobody wants landfills in their backyards.
        So the data centers and landfills will go to places where nobody (except poor people) live.
        But data centers will take buffo infrastructure with it (beefy power, water, data lines; also tax revenues, as long as the local government doesn't cut too stupid a deal), so that may actually do some good for whoever living close enough to benefit from the infrastructure buildout but not too close as to have to suffer the noise pollution.

          That’s a very apt comparison, Ax.

          Data centers are coming whether we like them or not. The trick is how we learn to manage their impact.

          Ohio EPA is floating a rule that allows them to discharge the cooling water directly into waterways. This I think is a bad idea due to temperatures, salinity and mineral content.

            @Mik

            Single pass cooling systems are a terrible idea in general.
