    @wtg
Thanks, Nero Wolfe looks interesting; copyright-banned over here but the archive link works.

I'm currently watching House (MD) starring Hugh Lawrie.
    On series 2 episode 4. So that's 26 out of 176 seen.
It's 20 years old and is fresh to rewatch.

Incidentally in the first series he is shown in his home with a Sohmer piano. Laurie does play well of course.

@AndyD Rex Stout’s Wolfe novels are a wonderful read, too; I got hooked in college. I think my favorite is The Doorbell Rang, which A&E adapted for TV. They do an impressive job of making a great book into equally excellent TV.

      IMHO, of course....

I just can't get enthusiastic for any of it, and I feel as it's The Olympics I ought to.
Seen bits of skiing, shooting, and then there's the curling 🙄.
Not even the jumping or ice hockey. None of it.
Am I getting old, or is it because they're wrapped up in five layers and it seems impersonal?
It's been more like watching darts, or snooker.

@AndyD I've felt that way for years. When I was a kid I used to be glued to the TV when the Olympics were on, especially the Winter Games. Somewhere along the way, probably in the 1990s, it felt like the competitive nature of the Olympics became eclipsed by bling and commercialism and the true spirit of the Games pretty much disappeared.

I used to like the artistic skating though it has become lots of triple jumps and spins.
Missed most of it this time!

Recently finished. 11.23.63 and The Travelers both Time travel memes. Very good!

I thought this scene was great--

I'm binging on Sherlock (Cumberbatch & Freeman series) at the moment.

Got to series 4 of House (Hugh Laurie) and needed a break

Any more I have a lot of trouble with movies and shows that have disappointing endings. Movies that kill off the characters you like. Things that are too much like the chaos I feel like we are living in now. Real life is worrisome enough, I don’t need to watch that sh*t in the movies.

Bob has said something like that. We started watching less violence. I have found that it is a good change.

                            @chas I'm glad.

                            I think there's truth in Jodi's and Bob's comments.

I won't watch anything in the horror genre. I can imagine the subject matter without being reminded of it and I don't watching movies and shows about it.

It's the news I have to be more careful about how much I watch. I'm interested in it but binging on it is stressful.

My favorite PCP, an internist I saw for the last seven years I lived in Lahaina, helped me when Trump was elected the first time.

I told her my thoughts about it, and she said, "Yes, but life goes on."

Later, when following news (with my phone) was stressful, she said, "Turn it off. Just turn it off."

I might have to breakdown and buy a television again, though.

There are many good movies, dramas, comedies, and documentaries.

I'd like to be able to do more than watch clips.

The second season of The Pitt is what I look forward to watching every week. It is so excellent. We have been watching the new season of Shrinking, as well, though it isn’t as good as previous seasons. Still good, though! Unfortunately the new season of Hijack is terrible, and the new season of Paradise is only okay.

@andyd I have watched the Cumberbatch and Freeman Sherlock so many times! It’s excellent!

I watched years of Ru Paul's Drag race starting from the beginning.

I thought it was solidly entertaining at its best moments.

I lost interest in it after several years. It became a blur when they started to do a lot of shows and then threw in shows from around the world.

He knows popular culture. This show is a major achievement, all things considered.

The contestants on that show have a LOT more expected of them than any other reality or game show. They have to design, sew, model, sing, dance, lipsync, do ads, do standup comedy in some cases. Respect.

Proper retired I am these days. Become a daytime television watcher, well, quite selectively.

These two relaxing half hour programmes are currently on Rewind TV:

                                      1. Old Country, presented by Jack Hargreaves, made in the mid 1980's, looking back on the life before WW2.
Horses, carriages, fishing, rabbiting, dogs, tools, farming, pottery, smithing; back to an age when life was slow, and everyone DIY'd.
                                        Episodes also on youtube

                                      2. Discovering Gardens, presented by Michele Brown and Giles Brandreth, made in the late 1980's.
Lovely English garden estates, with the owner-gardeners explaining and advising. An absolute gem.
Seems to only be on tv.
